1500 bucks, you say, Line6?

And if an artist is NOT in one of these advertisements they are a 'bum f*ck hero', correct?
All ducks are birds, not all birds are ducks.

No, I'd say a very small percentage of major touring acts have been featured, but every last one of them are very well known in their respective genres.

Cool, so this ad has zero to do with anything really... got it.

Not really sure why you keep quoting me on this. I didn't bring up RRs in the first place...?

You asked a question, I gave you an answer. That's what my post was for. Had I known your question was just meant to goad an argument, I would have either directed you to Google or ignored you.

Perhaps it was your strange use of profanity??

I think what they are saying is that there are two DSPs and two MCUs (micrcontrollers). Although I don't understand why they are using an MCU for audio "duties".

FWIW, the AX-8 has two ADSP-21469s and two microcontrollers. Not nearly as fancy UI though and it will only do one amp model at a time. Our amp modeling algorithms use up the entirety of one DSP. The second DSP is running at over 90% utilization. That's how detailed our algorithms are.
Am I the only one who finds it amazing that even in 2015, limited cpu power is still a thing?
With all the mass produced Quad and Eight cores from Intel and all the fancy super-powerful GPUs available, it's hard to understand for a layman why 450 Mhz DSPs are so expensive in comparison. Sure, sound processors and general processors are different, but it's like the differences in technology level are like comparing a Ford model T with a Tesla.

...or more likely your fragile sensibility?

So an established company comes out with a product that looks like it will make gigging musicians' lives much easier and it gets panned by a bunch of guys who may or may not have ever seen a stage or recording studio but have all seen the same Guitar Player ad on YouTube. And MY sensibilities are fragile???

I'll say it again, if you can't make a POD sound good it isn't the POD that's the issue.

Definitely not alone, but I'm too much a layman in this regard to really question FAS's choices - or anyone else's, but Cliff is known for engineering for excellence, not price points. The same cannot be said of some others.

Cliff has said before, IIRC, it has to do with introducing latency. Otherwise there might be 3 or 4 TigerSHARCs in the XL.

why are you trying to convince people in a fractal forum, about Line 6. Don't you realize that some of us are people who came from a line 6 product looking for something better. Don't you think we couldn't get a pod to sound good, of course we can, that's not the point. Eventually for me anyway, you grow up and want something better. My 401k is almost set, I can spend a little more money for something that blows away the competition, and it's not just the sound quality, but the customer service. Are you paid by line 6 to incite riots?

one dot is a dot, two dots are a line and three dots are a trend. Line 6 is a trend.

It's getting panned by me because...
1) that big established company has zero track record of making anything comparable in sound quality to the AxeFx,
2) I own an AxeFx and am happy with it,
and 3) I haven't heard this thing yet with my own ears outside of two short unimpressive clips on youtube.
...but I can't speak for why others might not be interested.

Sure, I'm naturally skeptical about a lot of things, but I still find my position more reasonable than those who are chomping at the bits to thrown hard earned cash after this thing ALSO having not heard it.

If I'm wrong, I might get an "I told you so" on a forum. If you're wrong, you'll not only get an "I told you so," but you'll also be out $1500 of which you could probably recoup about half listing it on TGP.

...not so crazy being the "wait and see" guy now, is it?

Think about this. You have 4 cars each with 200Hp, and one F1 with 800Hp. You think 4 cars running in parallel can go as fast as F1? ;)

I think what most people are failing to realize in this thread is this... If you don't HAVE to have the very best of the best and your budget is $1,500 you are going to get the Helix.
If you want the very best, even if it's only 10% better but cost almost twice as much, then you are going to buy the Axe Fx XL.

Hardcore people about Tone will stick with Fractal.... the majority of people that play a guitar will stick with Line 6 because most people can't afford Fractals prices or justify it if they don't even make a living from performing. There's far more hobby guitarists than there are pro ones that do it for a living, and that's why Line 6 will always have the biggest market. And that's also why Line 6 prices the way they do.

There are a lot of hobby guitarrist that know far more about the instrument then many pro guitarists, dont understimate the hobby guitar player, they/we drive the market on most angles, take the hobby guitar player out of the equation and 80% of all busnisses will die if not more.

Why? Because YOU DON'T HAVE ANY IDEA IF WHAT YOU HAVE IS BETTER. I paid $3500 for my Fractal rig and I post live videos of my band enjoying it all the time, I'm as much in the 'club' as anyone. But you guys trying to convince each other that something you have zero clue about isn't as good as the box you chose to purchase is whackadoo--misplaced loyalty or not...

And neither do you.

By all means, go be our guinea pig. Buy a Helix, put it to the test, and let us see which rig ends up in the classifieds.

BUt the truth is that there is NO other hardware box in the market right now better then the Axe Fx, no matter what you say, that is the truth.
