    Scenes vs Effects configuration

I've been using an FM9 for over a year now and I've got it configured so I use two "swiss-army knife" presets for everything that I do in my main band. I've always preferred configuring the pushbutton-switches to engage/disengage individual effects as opposed to programming a bunch of...

Sun shield for the FM9, suggestions?

I like @Sully0556 's prototype. One thing I can tell you all is DO NOT WEAR POLARIZED SUNGLASSES, lol--you'll think your retinas have detached when you try to read the display or footswitch labels.

    FM9 Firmware Version 4.01

Yeah, a number of us appear to have had some problems with the foot switch buttons (and scribble strips) not responding to its use after the first reboot. After my second reboot, everything worked properly.

Bug? Upper rightmost button no longer works after upgrading to 4.01

Yeah, that message appears on the Bot...sometimes I remember to do it...sometimes I don't. As you point it, they mention it as a "speed up" option, not a "bug avoidance" option... I've never measured the performance with and without an empty preset loaded to compare...but I never got the...

Bug? Upper rightmost button no longer works after upgrading to 4.01

"It doesn't matter which layout I'm in...this [upper rightmost] button no longer functions" So you found my description so confusing because the Tempo button is affected by changing layouts? Thus you have to make your point again and again? It's a switch that gets pressed like a button. I get...

Bug? Upper rightmost button no longer works after upgrading to 4.01

Yeah...the good old "Microsoft solution" took care of it for me. I suspect the problem may have had something to do with the layout (or preset?) that I happened to have loaded at the time of the update to 4.01. But until this becomes a repeatable issue, I totally get that there won't be much...

Bug? Upper rightmost button no longer works after upgrading to 4.01

BTW, "no longer works" meant that while the scribble strip updated correctly as I switched between layouts, the underlying function of the button in each layout would not work. E.g., in my Presets layout, it was programmed to bank up. In Effects (pg 1) layout, that button is programmed to...

Bug? Upper rightmost button no longer works after upgrading to 4.01

I'm not sure the problem was there after my initial reboot after installing the update...I don't recall whether or not I used that button during that session with the FM9. But I turned it off again after messing around in 4.01 for an hour or so, then rebooted it again a couple hours later...

Bug? Upper rightmost button no longer works after upgrading to 4.01

Could be this is not related to firmware version 4.01...but the problem appeared right after doing the upgrade. It doesn't matter which layout I'm in (I'm using my own take on OFM9G), this button no longer functions.

I'm experiencing a problem since upgrading to 4.01. My upper rightmost button seems to no longer work. Why cant I get clean punchy Low end on any Fender style amp

May have already been said...but in my experience, most real Fender amps don't have what I consider to be punchy low end. Many have big, wide lows...but not really punchy or shelved. Let's consider the amps that Fractal models: Tweed Champ - Nope Tweed Twin - plenty of low end...but punchy? Not...

Can the Rotary Mix be controlled by the Rotary Rate somehow?

It's for weird ʇᴉɥs like this that I wish I had a way of leaving a note in the preset or with the Rotary block...so that my stupid future self could figure out what the hell is going on when I look in this block again a year from now, lol.
  16. LeonC

Can the Rotary Mix be controlled by the Rotary Rate somehow?

Actually...you only need to set the mapping of the Mix inverse to the Rate if set the minimum value lower than the maximum. But if you're a wise-guy :) and you set the minimum higher than the maximum, you don't need to invert the mapping.
  17. LeonC

Can the Rotary Mix be controlled by the Rotary Rate somehow?

Hmmm....may have answered my own question. Looks like I can do this by attaching the same control switch to the mix control, then set up the mapping "inverse" to how it's set up in the rate.
  18. LeonC

Can the Rotary Mix be controlled by the Rotary Rate somehow?

My question is kind of theoretical and kind of practical. I'd like to slightly increase the mix of Rotary block when it's running at a slow rate and back off the mix a little bit when the rate is faster. Is there some kind of modifier / control that can be used to do this? (BTW, I'm using a...

How are you attaching your FM9 to your pedal board?

Why so thick? I don't think it's necessary from a stability standpoint at at all. I used 3/8" plywood, covered with tolex, with two, short, triangular feet (with rubber bottoms), strategically located, it's quite stable. The FM9 and pedals are attached with machine screws.

Simple DIY improvement for the OMG (FM9 + FM3)

Yeah, this is a great concept. But I take it a step or two further. For me, when I get to a preset, I spend most of my time in the EFFECTS pages because I like having things set up more like a traditional pedal board and tend to use SCENES less. And I also use my right foot much more for...

Utility of level meter on Meters page vs. those in the Output block Mixer page?

Yes, that's good...however...for those of us who spend most of their time using FM-Edit rather than the hardware to build presets, the meters in Layout view's amp blocks are of little utility. After many happy years with my AX8, I just acquired an FM9 from a friend who decided it was essentially "overkill" for his needs. So I'm new to this unit. What is the utility of these two meters? I wonder if anyone else has a need for something like this. I mostly use my AX8 for live performance. This entails using both OUT1 and OUT2. I send OUT1 to the mains/monitors (which are JBL EONs in my regular gigging band) and OUT2 to my own stage monitor, which is mostly an Atomic CLR. I've...

No, it's not that simple. Most of my presets are set up so that I'm using scene controllers to adjust level settings....so making the changes isn't nearly as convenient as Twist-Store-Enter-Enter. Moreover, I'm in an 8-piece band with a horn section--time is at a premium at our rehearsals. I...

    Guitar feedback with AX8

Are the speakers you're coming out of used by the PA system? I.e., are there others signals (vocals, other instruments, etc.) besides your guitar coming out of them? Guitar feedback with AX8

i.e., it is the output volume from speakers that causes the components of your instrument -- the strings, wood, pickups(windings?) to vibrate further (that's what feedback means--it's a loop between the guitar feeding the speaker...which then feeds back to the guitar). Only when you have a good...

Yes exactly. I also like having the ability to bring my volume up easily, when needed, particularly at those gigs where there's no soundman. Magnatone Panoramic Stereo Amp?

No, actually, they were among a very small group of amps that actually used pitch-modulating vibrato. The designer of the vibrato circuit, Don Bonham, had it patented. Here are some other examples (not stereo) where its pitch modulation is more evident.
