That doesn't really make much sense. The output volume from the FM3 is volume only. You could have just increased the level at the mixer... Either case should just be clean amplification. Also, were you using -10 or +4dB on the Output setting?

OMG9 - external foot switches for output volume increment / decrement?

You will need to configure your external switches as stand-in switches. Then you can assign those functions to the switch settings thru FC Edit within the editor. Stand-in switches require some setup that is only possibleon the hardware. Search the FM3 manual for "Stand-in Switch"...

Firmware updates update the firmware. Presets are not part of the firmware nor are IRs. You can safely update firmware without concern that presets or IRs will be affected. The new FW7 presets for FM9 are not changed in any way from previous presets. They've merely been re-saved under FW7 so...

Not possible. The editor is a "client" to the hardware. It doesn't have a way to do anything with the preset without it being loaded on the hardware and only one preset can be active at a time.

The Fractal supports sending tuner data over midi. This is documented in Fractal's Third Party Midi Specification. However, this requires the midi controller to be coded to send, receive and process the sysex for this. Unless you are talking about just turning the Tuner on the unit on and off...

Default to Per-preset layout at startup

If loading a preset causes the Layout to change then there's also a Layout Link defined on the switch. You can edit your preset switches to change to whatever layout+view you want after the preset changes.

But the cable without a guitar isn't a useful case... Both are acting as an antenna for the EMI... Do you have LED or florescent lights in your house? Or light dimmers? If you unplug the laptop power adapter from the electrical outlet and power off the laptop do you still get the noise...

Since you're almost certainly doing this to jump presets by bank, you can also set Bank Size to 3 and use a Bank Increment/Decrement instead... And another push for you to read the Footswitch Functions Guide which would have quickly answered your question ;)

You could have also gone into Manage Cabs and clicked the "refresh" icon... Seems like Axe-Edit somehow lost its "cache" of the IRs, or possible didn't load them correctly when you updated it.

He's talking about using the loopback midi cable. If one switch alternates between sending the CC (for channel of Amp and Cab blocks) with values of 0 and 2, it will toggle between Channels A and C. The other switch sending values of 1 and 3 will toggle between Channels B and D.

Control Switch Midi only sends midi outbound. You could use a loopback midi cable (connect midi out to midi in) if needed... But it's not the right method in this case. Use the Channel Increment function of a switch. There's no need for any midi programming, etc. See the Footswitch Functions...

Are you sure? They are Allen screws - there's no visible "head".

Laptop/EMI question

To be clear, you are saying that with Only headphones and power cable plugged into the Axe Fx and no other cables (USB, instrument, etc) connected that you are getting EMI? My current and previous laptops sit directly on top of my rack case right above my Axe Fx III and previous Axe Fx II...

@sprint... I guess what I was trying to say is this: the Amp block has user accessible parameters and also has parameters the are not exposed. Are the exposed parameters (the ones you highlighted) the totality of what the SIC is or are there other things that are not exposed?

FM9 unix-guy's random jams

Trying out some amps I haven't in a while to find a good fit for my Anderson Hollow Drop Top. The JTM-45 hits the spot especially with a little bit of Tone of Kings pushing it. I think I will work on this with the band!

Wish Is it possible Axe edit never rest on a bypassed block?

Ok, but why is that a benefit? Maybe when I change scenes I want to activate that block... The standard paradigm of the selected block staying selected makes logical sense and doesn't need any special or complicated logic to figure out where to move if it's bypassed.
