    PRS CU24 pickups

Don't know why I didn't think of this before, but have you tried the PRS \m/ pickups? I put those in a PRS Hollowbody and they cut through the mix like a hot knife through butter- so satisfying.

Can't seem to get an actual clean tone with HB bridge pickup on ANY preset

"Hot overdriven" how so? What kind of overdrive or distortion are you hearing? Is it the amp "breaking up" or are your levels too high inside the unit that it's clipping digitally?

    PRS CU24 pickups

What's your style of music and play? 59/09's are amazing for hi-gain stuff or lead work, but the cleans are terrible. 57/08's are my #1 favorite PRS pickups (though I've never played Dragon 1's): they split better than any humbucker I know (except BKP Abraxas & Mule), and the incredible clarity...

    Amp in the room simulation

Fine. There are factors other than just tone and SPL’s. You win.
  16. Philip34

    Amp in the room simulation

Yes, the sound does depend on where you stand in the room (SPL’s disperse in a linear fashion), but that doesn’t make my other statement false. In fact, you might have misunderstood what I said. I’m not saying they’re exactly the same, but I am saying the difference between them has diminished...

    Amp in the room simulation

The only difference between AxeFx—>in-ears vs amp-in-the-room is the feel, not the sound. It’s that moment when the Marshall fullstack is cranked with enough SPL’s to blow your pants like a Michael Jackson video. Great thing is that the nicer FRFR monitors reduce even that difference in feel...

About to Throw my AX-8 out the window (Rant)

Try this: 1) Completely blank-out a preset (IIRC, the last preset slot is completely blank) 2) add the "800 #34" amp (JCM800 with the #34 mod), then add the "1x12 MARS (TAF)" cab (the mids really shine on this IR) 3) In the cab block, turn the proximity frequency to 114Hz (I believe that's...

I'll tap-in at 80 bpm, then once the Tap Tempo screen goes away (Back to the preset page), 25-30% of the time the Tempo jumps to, say, 71 or 160 bpm- sometimes it doubles or triples the bpm, sometimes it just goes to a random bpm. Presets and Pickups

    1) remember that the EMG 81 cuts through like a hot knife, compared to other pickups, passive or active. It has plenty of gain and even more focus. Your amp settings ought to be less bright and slightly less overdriven with the 81, than if you tweaked for a passive pickup. 2) the EMG active...

  86. Philip34

Wish Output Comp (amp block) type: optical

Yek, that's what I meant with my request. I meant to imply that it seems it would be slightly less CPU usage with the amp block's comp rather than the compressor block, since the amp block is already engaged. It seems very minimal would be added.
  87. Philip34

What is the sonic difference between output comp in amp block and comp block after amp?

By putting compressor before cab block, any frequencies you boost in the amp block get no filtering before the compressor, so very resonant frequencies will trigger the compressor either sooner than you want or to compress more than you want.
  88. Philip34

What is the sonic difference between output comp in amp block and comp block after amp?

Since an IR is like an extremely detailed, passive EQ, I would think it should be the same difference you'd hear on a live mixer, when flipping between EQ->Comp vs Comp->EQ on a particular channel. I'd think that, being mostly EQ cuts (IR, that is), however wide or narrow, using a compressor...
