18.07 seems to have quite a bit more bass and gain?

No, it's not just you. It is really obvious in the first three factory presets (59 Bassguy, 65 Bassguy and Brownface), doesn't matter if you use humbuckers or singlecoils.

Weird low resonance

This low D (73 Hz) is the result of a sub-frequency produced by your open d string (147 Hz) and the a on the g string (220 hz) in the D chord : 220Hz-147Hz=73Hz. Lowering SAG and setting B+ Time Constant higher might help.

Going to try FRFR again at a gig, but why is everything sounding so harsh?

Hi Ben, I run my Axe II through a Matrix GT1000FX and 2 Q12s, had the same problem with excessive harshness. Trying to make FRFR work for me I arrived at almost the same Global EQ settings Daribo posted. I guess it would be a good idea to check out his settings, might help you, too! Cheers, Hans

Older OwnHammer IRs not loading in Cab Lab

Anyone else noticed this? When trying to load an older OH IR into Cab Lab, I always get: "Selected IR is corrupted". No problem with Redwirez, though.

I had the same problem, this is what fixed it for me: hold the "recall"-button, while powering up the Axe. This will load an empty preset, then update the firmware (I used Axe Edit). Hope that helps! Cheers, Hans

+1, after some time of listening and comparing I feel the same. With "real" amps, I always found, that I prefer the sound of a brighter amp into a darker cab than vice versa, and to me this is no dfferent with the Axe and IRs....

This is the first time I had problems with updating, posted this in the v. 9 beta thread, too. I tried 5 or 6 times to update to no avail using AE and then Midi-Ox, re-downloaded the update file, uninstalled and reinstalled the driver, no luck. The update process took way longer as usual, more...

Tried to update for the last 3 hours to no avail. I always get a "file transfer error" at the end of the transfer, no matter if I use AE or Midi-Ox. I re-downloaded the file to no avail, too. Never had problems with updating before, only thing I noticed this time was, that updating took more...

EQ TIPS TO MAKE MY STRAT SOUND MORE VINTAGE.

Another vote for Kinmans. I have one Strat fitted with his Traditional set and another with Woodstocks, very happy with both. Here's another thing to look at: there are Strats, that sound thin and sterile, these are usually Strats, which are very heavy. A Strat or a Tele has to be lightweight...
