    3 with JJjr combo

The axe3 and this little amp is an amazing combo. I’m going to get another for a stereo set up. As of now, I’m using the effects only with the channels of the amp. Best tone I’ve ever had. The effects are so good. My singer told me at rehearsal last night that it’s the best he’s ever heard. The...

    Back in fractal fold

I think how I am going to set up for live is stereo. We are currently a one guitar band. I have two spare yamaha dxr12’s that I’ll send from output two. I’ll place those on either side of my floor wedge that I’ll have for vocals etc and pan hard left and right. My FOH feed will go from output...

    Back in fractal fold

Ya I have it set up in our 60x60 rehearsal space. I usually don’t, but I need to make patches on the PA so I’m not guessing at a gig. I think that’s where at ran into troubles at my old church gig. I built patches on headphones and studio monitors and the just didn’t translate well on the Axe2...

    Back in fractal fold

After parting with my axe2 9 years ago I decided to give the axe3 a go. I received the processor, fc12 and expression pedal on Friday. I was a little intimidated at first so I spent the first hour using the interface and headphone jack on the unit to familiarize myself with the platform again...

    NEW AX FX....3 WHEN????

I already have an ax 3 prototype. It takes IR's of the tones you hear in your head by reading your brainwaves. If you have a shitty inner voice or are used to digitech sounds your tone will suck. Plus you have to be able to concentrate so if you have ADD it won't work for you.

Got my ax 8 yesterday. My initial impression is very good. It's really plug and play aside from getting the appropriate cab plugged in.

Hit me with your best shot

It seems like with the runt you could make the ultimate portable w/d/w rig coupled with ax. I guess the other option would be to only use the drives in the axe. Is there a timmy like drive in there? I really like the real one into the dirt channel of the runt. Lots of possibilities I guess.
  12. edawterb

Hit me with your best shot

I wonder if I could put the timmy in the loop and switch it in and out in the axe to the runt without anything in else in the axe in the signal path. And then switch the amp with one them midi spluffer thingies? Thinking of that...there are two loops so I could use the immerse in the other for a...

Hit me with your best shot

I really like that amp too. I think maybe even more than I like my smallbox. The speaker sim is really great and takes the mic'ing the cab out of it for me. I have an axe 8 coming and I think I'm gonna send the runt dry to the pa along with the cab sims and time based effects in the ax to my pa...

With the news of overseas assembly...

In the end Fractal made the decision. It's their business and their choice. The choice we have is buy or don't buy. I'm not gonna lose any sleep over it....and I'll probably be purchasing an fx-8 soon.

    This is surprising. You decide

I've got a pair that I'm gonna test as soon as my ax8 shows up...as well as the elx ev 12. I sure like em as mains. Crisp clear and my Friedman sounds great mic'd up thru them.

I'm going to do a side by side comparison of the EV elx12 and the Yamaha dxr twelve when my ax 8 arrives. Can someone give me a heads up on how to a/b them in the ax8 with a foot switch?

  32. edawterb

    This is surprising. You decide

Not sure. This isn't my vid. I know that my DXR 12's are plenty loud for my PA. I've read that the 10's are LOUD little beasts with plenty of headroom and power and I don't doubt it based on the 12's I own.
  33. edawterb

    This is surprising. You decide

Great point. I've sort of always been in the camp that it's better to have to cut frequencies than to add them. It's hard to really tell from this video but I expected the friedman to just kill. I know that I really like my dxr12's. So it's not surprising that the 10's are good as well.

I don't have my ax 8 yet. My drummer feeds a stereo feed from his mixer. Keep the qsc next to me onstage. I can soundcheck with my iPad. Don't really have a need for a snake. It is perfect for small gigs. Nice and warm and full sounding. I'm really a fan of the yamaha DXR 12's. I wanted the...

  43. edawterb

    Somebody said I'd be back

The major difference between now and when I had my axe 2 is that I had a crappy pair of mackie monitors to play it thru. Now I have a sweet PA to plug the ax 8 into. Going back to tubes

I suppose in a nutshell, the axe just provides to many options for my "squirrel" mind and I too often go down the road of eternal tweaking instead of just playing. At this stage of the game I just want a good sounding head with a good delay and compressor and 1 or 2 drive pedals
