Oh wow, I didn’t know Edo was out! Cool to see Jamie there, he’s fantastic……but I hope he gets a Red Strat!!! I’m off to go scour the internet for Edo’s socials. I’ll gladly buy up whatever I may or may not be able to purchase from him and I’m curious to see what he does next.

ICONS sounds better than FM9 for only 300 €

This question is better answered with actual experience rather than being told. Every rebuttal will create a new rebuttal and I don’t believe the more cynical minded are all that interested in having their minds changed.

    Valve power amp v 4cm

I’m predicting a Fryette product in your future! I’ve got the PS100 and love it, but I have no need for a stereo rig, if you want stereo they’ve got the LX or 2/90/2. I’d just pay attention to how much coloration occurs from whatever poweramp you go with, the more transparent the better.

    I’m getting frustrated playing Slash

Here ya go, I’ve produced a lot more than one song and it’s me on each instrument/vocal/mixing. And I’ve gotten pretty damn close to some of my influences tones- It’s your playing. Guitar tones are surprisingly boring and generally don’t sound awesome in isolation. 98% of what makes...

This board has been a WIP for quite a while now, initially starting as my non-modeling/EJ/Gilmour inspired board. Well, it’s now got modeling and only a small hint of EJ and Gilmour! I’m still waiting on an Axxess Unbuffer for the Fuzz Face as it’s unusable in the Morningstar ML5R. I...

Are EQ and Compressor pedals redundant in front of the VP4?

Just got my VP4 today and I’m glad I wasn’t able to wire up my board right away because now I can skip out on the compressor. I have a Keeley Comp+ and I don’t keep it on all the time, I’d rather put a cool pedal in the loop it was taking up in the loop switcher, like the Freqout or a different...

    VP4 Firmware V4.01 Release

The main differences between practice and performing?

Yes and no. Listen to some DVD commentaries from musicians and you'll often hear them say "I just listened to the studio version and realized I've been playing it differently live for years and didn't realize it" and I'm specifically thinking of Vai and Petrucci as I've heard them both say it...

    Let's see those FM9 rigs!

This is all a bit modular in the thought process- For the most part, the FM9 will be used by itself with the Power Station and 4x12 (or whatever cab I need). If the fancy strikes me, I can just as easily use it 4CM with the Plexi50 head, but chances are I'll use the Plexi50 with the actual...

Paul from Cynic praising Fractal and the FM9

He said his guitar player sent him “some updated patches”, at no point did he say “I don’t dial in anything on my own and have never dialed in a preset before”, which he stated in between gushing about the Fractal unit and right before he went on to praise the updates. Seems like basic...

Modern day country session guitarist rigs.

I know it was definitely dirt pedals I was stacking, but it could be an amp or the model. I should have uploaded this in my first post, but this is a preset mimicking the amp/pedal setup. Here's another Nashville session dude. Pretty cool to see an old school, big ass rig like this in 2025. For the last year and a half I've been playing around quite a bit with stacking drives on clean or edge of breakup foundations, it started by chasing Gilmour tones and then I got a 50-watt...

    Wish Bogner Snorkler

The original Snorkler was a 50-watt JCM800 4010, according to Ronnie Champagne. Feel of a Fractal

Just to add my experience with this; I've had 3 amps that are also modeled in Fractal gear; 5153 50-watt, Bogner Shiva (though mine wasn't the 20th anniversary version that's modeled) and I have a Certiatone Plexi50, which is basically a Marshall 1987x. I'd assume it means when one is going Vai-nuts on a Whammy pedal it's more instantaneous than previously. I use the wah so much I'd be surprised if I don't notice a difference once I finally update. Realized at band practice I'm really giving Kirk Hammett a run for his money with the wah abuse.

I’m currently only using the Whammy pitch effects in my FM9 and don’t think I’ve used it much at all since the last update, but I’ve been having issues with it in my AxeFX; previously the warblely/almost chorus sound would appear when loading the preset and I’d just move the expression pedal...

    King's X Dug Pinnick tone?

Oh my bad! I'm pretty sure they're both York Audio IR's. Dr. Bonkers also has a great bass cab IR pack, there's a Secret Weapon IR that is quite badass for the big low end. York's Ampeg 8x10 pack has a few that really bring the low end as well.

Thanks, brother! It's a Scene in my 'Edwards Mesa's preset, the amps are mainly dialed in to work with the EMG's in my Edwards, but there's a IIC++, V amd Recto scenes in there as well!

AFIII Lamb Of God 'Laid To Rest' guitar/vocal cover

    King's X Dug Pinnick tone?

This preset won't sound exactly the same as it does in the vid due to updates to the FW since then and I have a bad habit of tweaking my presets for whatever song I'm using them on- The general idea is using the Ampeg for all the low end and the JCM800 for the dirt/treble/mids on top. Your...

Fm3 live clip Dyna versus IR's

How are you using the DynaCabs? I tend to treat them the way I would mic’ing an actual cab, one mic is going to focus on low end while the other does the high/mid. Generally I use the same cab but a Ribbon for the low end and the Dynamic 1 for the top end. This way I’m not sacrificing one...

I haven't watched her video but I know she rented the venues herself then sold tickets to recoup costs, taking a page from Joe Bonamossa. Axe-Fx III Firmware 27.03 Public Beta #3

  76. RevDrucifer

    Axe-Fx III Firmware 27.03 Public Beta #3

@FractalAudio, am I correct to assume there was some more work done with the way fuzzes work in general, rather than just being a detailed update of specific drives? The sputtery/hairy aspects are really shining through as where previously they’d kind of compress/fold into themselves, while...

    Axe-Fx III Firmware 27.03 Public Beta #3

Sure- Signal chain and how the flanger is dialed in- Colortone- Amp block-I spent a LONG time dialing this in! Delay is a ping pong, 1//4 notes, Reverb is the South Church. Dial in the mix to your tastes. No deep parameters were touched in any block, what ya see is what ya get!

    Axe-Fx III Firmware 27.03 Public Beta #3

Last week I bought a PastFX Patriarch which is aimed at Gilmour's '94 Civil War Big Muff tones. I spent maybe 5 minutes tweaking the Russian Big Muff and the 4-Knob Tube Screamer and got to this point- First time it plays through, it's the Patriarch, 2nd time is the AxeFX drives.

Axe-Fx III Firmware 27.03 Public Beta

Spent a little bit with the Ram's Head and Colorsound Booster for the "Comfortably Numb" solo, getting in the ballpark. The OG does that classic Gilmour thing where it doesn't really sound all that distorted listening to the isolated track, hard to get the edge of the notes to have that grit...

AFIII David Gilmour "Between Two Points" cover

I really dug this tune and was having a bit of a lull with original tunes, so I did a full cover of it. Acoustic was mic'd, but all the electric guitars and bass are the AxeFX, using a FreqoOut for the feedback stuff. Lead tone is the JCM800 Mod with a little special sauce on top.
  87. RevDrucifer

    Jerry Cantrell Fly Rig

Absolutely. Listening to the isolated tracks from Facelift, there’s a lot more spanky/mid-gain tones going on there than it seems in the whole mix. His solos are a good indication of how much gain he generally has going on, those notes don’t endlessly sustain from the gain being maxed out.

More than close enough to appease me, the 2290 and SDE-3000 mimics in Fractal units are stellar, same with the tape/analog delays. The H9 would have been for anything weird/over the top and there's no issues doing that with a Fractal unit.
