Axe-Fx II "Ares" Rev 2.00 Firmware Release

...Just popping in to express my gratitude to Cliff and Fractal. Haven't spent too much time with the latest firmware so I can't attest to the differences but the fact that this "EOL" product is still getting any updates at all is amazing. Phenomenal dedication to the user, the advancement of...

    Cab Block Preamp. Do you?

Fair enough. A little research exposes which mic pres are based on the circuits modeled on the Axe. But there are still multiple FET or Tube or OpAmp based mic preamps even within the context. I'm cool with the Cliff leaving out the particulars - it doesn't have to be as specific as the amp...

    Nektar Pacer....thoughts?

Thanks so much for the response and honesty. I use iFCB to program my Behringer so it's really a breeze. But the Pacer looks like the future so I'm almost on board. The editor would truly be the clincher for me.

Bump! Anything in the pipeline for an editor? The Pacer would be a real winner if if came with a software editor. I currently use iFCB for my Behringer but the Pacer is way more impressive on paper...

    Intermittent USB connection

Not to pile on, but I've also had some funny experiences when running AE3 and ProTools at the same time. I've resorted to editing on the panel while I do my sessions but if I run both at the same time I'll start getting drop-outs, and eventually the computer and Axe III will lose sync, my audio...

Hey all- I was wondering if any of you guys have had trouble running Axe Edit III and your DAW at the same time on the same computer. I'm on a 2012 MacBook Pro, using ProTools 10 via USB3. Latest firmware (including USB firmware), latest AE3. Yesterday I was in the midst of a session with...

    TesseracT

I remember chatting with Acle in the Harmony Central days and checking out his Engl clips. For me Tesseract was one of the 'djent' originators, the first project I'd heard that took Meshuggah's concept and made it melodic while experimenting with the instrumental arrangements - the sax solo...

Picked up a DBX RTA-M omni mic

Found one pretty cheap at a local GC and figured I would give it a go for some (imperfect) experimentation; as far as creating IRs and tone matches, etc... Do yourself a favor and get yourself iFCB. It's a great editor for the FCB1010, I've never felt the need to get a third party EPROM. You won't regret it.

Why no secret sauce in the back?

Sure do. Often times the receivers for wireless guitar and wireless microphones are the same exact units. Assuming most are using a 1/4" unbalanced cable between the receiver and the axe. In that case I believe what I said still holds true.
  18. M

Why no secret sauce in the back?

I'm not sure about wireless receivers outputting and line level. That doesn't make any sense to me, as running a line level into a real amp would overload it easily. It's probably more about buffers than levels. A wireless receiver's output is probably closer to a buffered instrument level...

    Preset charging creators

At the rate Cliff cranks out new firmwares, what's the point of buying pre-made presets? Not debating the legality or whether or not presets have worth. They obviously do. But almost *all* the patches in existence are for previous firmwares! Granted (IMO) the differences can be minute, a...

    Tone Matching a PA

It's already been said, the FM phenomenon is a function of the ears and brain. Your gear (assuming it's got the headroom and linear response) is going to be putting out the same signal, just different decibels. Theoretically, tone-matching a rig of this sort will render you a virtually linear...

    Software FracPad III - iOS/Android/Mac/Win Editor for the Axe-Fx II/XL/XL+, AX8/FX8, Axe-Fx III and FM3/FM9

    Software FracPad III - iOS/Android/Mac/Win Editor for the Axe-Fx II/XL/XL+, AX8/FX8, Axe-Fx III and FM3/FM9

Went through the entire thread and this looks like an awesome product. Couldn't figure out though, will it be compatible with an Ipad 2? Will it run with the Apple style camera connection kits? 30-pin or lightning --> USB for direct connection between tablet and AxeFX? Edit: Also, with all...

ax fx II problems with pro tools 12.6

Are you running your session at 48k?
  27. M

What is "it" that the axe fx is missing?

The one thing "missing" in my opinion - and will likely never be implemented for all the right reasons - is an option to roll your own amps, not unlike Revalver. Sure, amp block possibilities are basically endless as-is but the ability to change the amp model itself in addition to all the...

Does that mean that the track being reamped must be solo'd during the reamp process? If you select USB as input, is everything playing back routed through the DSP? Well, I'm an 11r user and I paid for the ERXP. It was worth it for me. I'm getting a good amount of use from the new models, specifically the Bogner and Matchless, the new delay is great, Dyn3 Comp and Para EQ are great tools. I don't see what all the hubbub is about. Sure, Fractal guys...

    Fractal audio amp tweaker

The idea is great, but there are already devices out there that are basically virtual pots that operate over midi. Stereo Tape Distortion Drive Setting

I would like to add that the Drive block should just be stereo. It might sound silly, or too specific a situation, but currently there is no way to reamp a stereo signal (using a drive block) using just one input and output. I was doing some reamping using my buddy's Axe, and was trying to...

My AxeFX tone tweaking skills were eaten by a JCM800!!

I agree with you that the poweramp itself is probably not the problem, that cab blocks should be off if running into actual cabs, etc. The only problem I have with turning poweramp emulation off completely, is that by doing so you're potentially eliminating half of your tone/feel shaping...

My AxeFX tone tweaking skills were eaten by a JCM800!!

Yes, I'm well aware of the difference between poweramp sim on and off, and turning sag to 0 and all that great stuff. However, there is also a difference between the Master at 8, and the Master at 1, and yes, it's also about the distortion because every part of the signal chain imprints...

My AxeFX tone tweaking skills were eaten by a JCM800!!

Hey man- Have you tried turning the master down in the amp block? Turning the sag down (not off) affects the feel, sure, but if you're running into a tube poweramp you probably want to turn down the master in the amp block too. That way you're still getting poweramp emulation, but its as if...

Re: What Is The Best Way To Learn The Axe Fx When You Are Ne The shunt is a block that doesn't really do anything except move the audio through the block. I think of it as an extension of the 'patch cables' that connect the blocks together. If you made a line of shunts from the input to the...
