Axe-Fx III Firmware 31.01 Release

Got it loaded. The same stage presets I use are now brittle, have way too much high end, and stiffer. Also, the 2290 model is about 30 percent louder and is totally out of whack. 5153 is so brittle it will have to be redone. Also, the C45, a mainstay for my cover gigs, is so far out it will also have to reset from the ground up. Next, after experimenting, I will have to cut and additional 1000k off the 7000k cut I have in the DYNA CAB to see if I can edit out the sharpness. Last, the chorus, like the 2290 is much louder and will also have to be redone.

All this screechy high end sounds fake and processed. I am sure I can edit it out but it will take time. I played last night at a midsized venue and had to do alot more board EQ to stop the ice pick. Before I get the "you should not update before shows" comment, I play a lot here in Asia and often try new firmware at shows to get a true picture of what is happening.

Folks I get that we have to do this occasionally after a major firmware change. But, this one seems very brittle and stiff.

Feedback from the trenches.

Something is wrong somewhere else. There were NO changes to the 2290 or the Chorus. If anything, the high end is more subdued and the amps are, in general, softer.

The response has been overwhelmingly positive and the models measure better than ever compared to the amps.

Any chance a wah is now on in your preset(s)? I’ve run into that before, or the cab is off or is pointing to an empty ir slot. I might try reloading the new firmware, or if you already have, download it again, and load the fresh download. Best of luck.

That or maybe check the channels of your amps or drives to make sure they haven't accidentally changed.
I had that happen to me the other day and was very confused for a few minutes lol

I do hear you. I will double check everything. This is just a report. This is the preset as it is with the new firmware. I will have to redo it.

I never reverse firmware so I will just re adjust it. All opinons on my preset welcome. This is a main stage preset for small to midsize venues that I use.

Wow. That happened to me once. I will check it. Good advice.

Hello ,

I use the AC-20 EF86 Treble a lot.

With this firmware, the sound is very thin, less powerful, no bass, less drive.

Until now, I used it with the FW 31.00 and it was very good.

I also have an FM9 (FW 10.00) with my settings.
I was able to compare the 2, the difference is obvious.

I don't know if it's normal.
Do I have to rework my sound drastically?

Thank you again to the whole team for all the work you do!!
I'm having the exact same experience as you. I use the Morgan AC-20 (12AX7 bass and treble version) a lot, and with the latest firmware, I'm not getting good sound. I've reset all channels and retuned them, but the sound remains very thin and soft. Dialin in preamp hardness to 7.4 (or any other value) does not help.

I've gone back to the previous firmware version...

Really appreciate the update.. as always..... but......

Small case of misunderstanding perhaps. In creating a new preset (in the amp block) choosing the 5F1 Tweed EC results in getting the Brit 800 #34.... this seems be the case with several tweeds. Tweed Bright gets the USA MK IIC+ Deep Bright and Tweed Jumped gets Tweed Normal.

Anyone have a fix?

I know it must be me but I'm going to blame Microsoft anyway after their last update.

Is this in the editor?

Have you tried RANF?

Just checked and those amps are pulling up the correct for me in the newest Axe-Edit. Make sure you have the newest version of the editor and as @Domct203 said ,run a Refresh After New Firmware.

Try reinstalling the firmware...

I got our reference AC-20 out and compared it. The 12AX7 models are spot-on. Not sure what is going on with your unit.

Hey, were you not supposed to lift anything ?
J/k
Hope you are feeling better
Perhaps “I got our reference AC-20 out” actually means, he tasked someone to bring him their AC-20? 🤷‍♂️ Action speak for “I tested it again”? 🫣 Hope you are still healing well, Cliff! 👊

Yeah I've been getting lost in the sauce on an AC-20 12AX7 preset I made. Can confirm it sounds and feels insane.

I use 1 Amp Block with 3 different AC30's (Brilliant, Class A30W TB, AC30W Hot) for a majority of my presets covering all our Cover bands ...and I can confirm they have never sounded this good...Softer Tone, High End is Glorious... Absolutely amazing Tone and Touch sensitivity...
