FM9 Firmware Version 9.01

View attachment 154851

Yeah, I don't have one of those around, I have three :). Didn't think about that. I haven't seen them playing with the Fm9. I'll keep en eye out.

Are there any midi messages or similar that would do the same thing as what's the encoder is doing. I've only ever seen PC change, not PC show, or preemptive load or whatever that could be?

Ist it a Hughes and CATner preset with 3 scenes?

Man, nevermind how amazing this update sounds -- FM9 edit looks so sharp now! The interface is practically glowing. Love it.

FM9 Firmware Version 9.01 is now available for download:
https://www.fractalaudio.com/downloads/firmware-presets/fm9/9p0/fm9_dsp_rel_9p01.zip

An updated version of FM9-Edit is required for use with this release:

New DynaCabs
A Dyna-Cab update is required if you are updating from a firmware version prior to 9.0 Beta 2.
The required Dyna-Cab file is included in the zip file for this release.
If you are upgrading from version 9.0 beta 1 or older, please follow the instructions in the included Firmware Update Guide. If you are updating from 9.0 beta 2 or 9.0 you do not need to reinstall Dyna-Cabs.

Preset CPU and Factory Presets
This firmware version includes major improvements to sound quality and performance. As a result, some presets now require more CPU. Older Factory Presets may exceed 80% CPU usage, especially on the standard (non-Turbo) FM9. To address this, new Factory Presets have been created for firmware 9.0+. These are not installed automatically and must be downloaded separately:

OK, the unthinkable happened. I thought my FM( was all backed up but I was trying to download the latest firmware 9.01 then it told me to turn off the machine and wait 10 secs and turn it back on. I did that and later got a msg that the Dana cabs were not the correct ones. I shut it down for the night then turned my FM9 on in the morning and all I got was a white screen. Nothing on it and my FMEdit didn't find anything. Please point me in the right direction to restore all my stuff one my FM9. I only had one custom preset but I can redo that in a heartbeat. Try not to laugh too hard. Still new to this gear. Thanks.

PROBLEMS DURING/AFTER FIRMWARE UPDATE

Mishaps during firmware updates are rare but can occur. In the event that your unit will not boot normally after an update, our newest products include a built-in recovery system known as the “Emergency Boot Loader” which you can use to get back up and running again:

  1. Power down the unit and wait five seconds.
  2. Power on holding both PAGE LEFT and PAGE RIGHT buttons until the Emergency Utility page appears.
  3. Update as normal using Fractal-Bot.

The emergency boot loader should get you going again.

To find out what to do about the incorrect DynaCabs, read the first post in this thread — the one you quoted. ;)

I noticed over the past week or so my monitors seems to output very quiet volume even when turned up halfway. Normally, I may just think this is because they're small monitors or my hearing is effected but my Redsound Elis 8's still sound damn loud as hell in my studio on vol 1.5.

So I am wondering has anyone else had problems with their monitors audio since changing firmware over recent weeks?

I could of sworn my monitors were always much louder at the given volume I use them at. This is like signficantly softer like by 100% or more.

How would changing firmware on one device bother the sound on another device that has nothing to do with it?

I understand your point. In the recent weeks I always upgraded to Windows 11 from WIndows 10. I don't know if that may have anything to do with it, perhaps the drivers or something. I just found it odd. I double checked the drivers and I'm using Ableton Live 10 with ASIO drivers that have very little latency.

Other things have happened , now I can't even play backing tracks in my Live 10 without the computer playing them much slower as if it is trying to keep up.

I never had issues before with windows 10. But MS has left Windows 10 in the dust officially.

I was wondering if this could have anything to do with the FW 9.01 or even 8.01 but now I am doubting it.

The issue is definitely your computer/windows seeing that you said you've been having issues.
