Axe-Fx III Firmware 28.02 Release

I am experiencing a freeze of my Axe-Fx III Turbo with all 4 output meters maxed when recalling a specific preset number, at 53% CPU. I noticed this behavior since firmware 28.01, same with 28.02. Didn't check with older firmware. How to tell if it's firmware related or due to a corrupt preset.
What should I do, post the preset here for investigations, or try to overwrite it and see if it solves the problem ? Thanks.

I usually rebuild the preset or start removing blocks to find the culprit

ok, here is the faulty preset, if somebody would be kind to check if it freezes other Axe-Fx's
Everything okay over here, except that Vol/Pan1 & 3 have their volume set to 0 on all channels. The GEQ is linked to a global block (G1), which I don't use and therefore I can't tell if maybe your G1 is misconfigured somehow, or if it's even possible for it to be a source of problems.

For people who are in the know: Is it expected behavior for said GEQ block, which is linked to G1, to set all the bands to -12 if I don't have a G1 configured?

lp59, I loaded your preset and it worked fine turning the volume knob up a bit.

But I had a similar experience... maybe this will shed some light... wait

I had the same problem: For some presets, the output LEDs all lit up; I had to restart the Axe.

In firmware 28.02, the drive types are sorted completely differently, and there are even empty drive types at the beginning. Has anybody seen this behaviour?

Going back to firmware 27.03 solved the problem, but all system settings, songs/setlists, and all presets with drives were displayed as empty. FC-6 was also blank.

When I returned to firmware 28.02, the presets were at least displayed, but the drive type list started with number 37, as before, and was sorted differently.

What is this?

drives types fw 28_02 vs. 27_02

Matching AxeEdit and firmware?
Refresh after new firmware?

Thanks for looking. Ext 1 is linked to Pitch Block Mix Parameter, Ext 3 is linked to the Volume Block Volume Parameter. The GEQ block is a mid boost, no band is at -12.

Drives are correctly listed in 28.02 here.

Only on your end, because of it being linked to a global block, which is not shared along with the preset. But that won't be the problem, here. Just remember to unlink those global things when you put presets on axechange. :) (Edit: talking about the GEQ block)

Thank you for your ideas.
editor was newest 14.12 all time. I did the RANF several times. But only one time after reinstalling fw 28.02.
So I just turned all off and on again and did it again ... just to be sure...

ALL THE DRIVES ARE WHERE THEY SHOULD BE!

I don't know why... The device had to work all day Sunday..., maybe to much?

So thank you for asking, Dave! ;)

Yes, you are right, will do ! For closing the discussion about my faulty preset, I erased it, than imported it back and now it's fine. Just wondering what infected the preset to make it crash the whole machine ...

I had originally posted about a similar experience on the Dr. Z 38 preset and posted it here. Then it stopped doing it for a bit so I erased the post thinking it's just me. It came back, and it did it when changing presets or scenes in certain presets. I too only noticed this after FW 28.x and reinstalled the FW reset stuff, etc. It still happened. Last night I reloaded the FW again and found that the preset I had originally had issues with was no longer present in the unit. It was empty (I had not deleted it) along with several other presets. I ran the RANF with no luck. I decided to blowout my unit and start over and go back to FW27.03 which is what is on the website and everything returned to normal and so far no peaking/clipping anywhere.

I've never had this experience with any FW and I've had my III for 7 years.
If a preset is “invisible,” that means it was made on firmware that’s newer than the firmware you’re running.

It would show the preset in AE but when I selected it and it tuned to it, it was empty. I edited my first comment to make that more clear. Are you saying if you "saved" a preset on a newer fw and reverted back to an older version that will happen?

If you haven’t refreshed the preset list In AE, it can still show up there, even if the hardware can’t show it.

If you saved a preset on a newer firmware, and then revert to older firmware, you will no longer be able to use or see that preset.

Thanks, Rex. Learned something today :)
Just wanted to re-up that I had clipping on the latest FW since I saw someone else have a similar experience.
