Axe-Fx III Firmware 28.02 Release

Does anyone had USB connection problems on Win 11 since 28.00 release?

I am doing a regress to 27.03 because suddenly after this mentioned release my axe 3 mk1 is not detected anymore by any windows pc or with any usb A to usb B cable. Had to buy a (slow and laggy) usb to midi cable and also changed (physically) my usb port thinking it was maybe a hardware problem, but I suspect now it has to do with the release.

Also I checked the version today in the front panel with release 28.02, and my USB firmware changed from 1.17 to 1.08

Zero issues mine is connected to the computer motherboard direct - windows 11 - I do turn on Axe before I start my pc

Make sure in windows device manager - go to usb input devices under Human interface devices right mouse click on USB Input Device - then power management tab and makes sure on everyone of them untick ALLOW THE COMPUTER TO TURN OFF THIS DEVICE TO SAVE POWER

Did you have USB FW 1.17 installed before? The USB firmware is a completely separate FW installation. It does not get automatically updated with the main FW.

Thanks for the replies.

Yes I did have USB FW 1.17 installed until I updated the DSP FW 28.00, since then I checked version and it showed I had USB FW 1.08.

I am currently reinstalling firmware dsp 28.02 again at 51.50 % (it is slow because I'm using a midi to usb cable as an alternative). I'll send pictures of this if the error persists. The big problem is that when I use fractal bot to SEND the 1.17 usb firmware again, it tells me that "no response is received" and to check if the axe is turned on.

What version of FW were you on before 28.02?
I was on 28.00 before this one, but had the same problem. When I had version 27.03 everything was fine I was using axe fx 3 as an audio interface before. Then I updated to 28.00, and suddenly one day it stopped detecting the usb connection while I was using it to reamp.

Now when I installed 28.02, I checked version because I was tired of waiting the latency of the midi-to-usb cable and I saw DSP VERSION: 28.02, USB Version: 1.08, that's why I'm confused.

Now I am updating again to 28.02 at 72%.

What has worked for other folks is to downgrade the main FW to before 28.x and then install the USB FW 1.17. Once that's installed you can then re-install FW 28.02. If you're having communication issues or failed sends, you can hold down both the Page Right and Page Left buttons while powering on the Axe III to enter the Emergency Utility screen. Once that is showing you can launch Fractal Bot and send the 27.03 FW file via the normal USB connection.

Ok, I reinstalled 28.02 and this is my situation:

On two different occasions recently windows 11(axe edit/usb control panel) will not detect the Axe III and it's always after an update to windows 11 24H2. What has worked for me is to delete the file that the usb driver is in and reinstall it.

No problems here! Windows 11 Axe fx3 mk1 usb powered hub.

Axe-Fx III Firmware Release Notes

28.02

Added adjustable Q to Low Cut and High Cut in Reverb block. Note: The Q only affects the response if the Slope is set to 12 dB/oct.

Updated spring models in Reverb block. A soft reset is recommended if you use these types to load the new default values.

Added Vibrato-King Custom Spring type.

Changed name of “Spring Drive” to “Dwell” as this is what is commonly used on spring reverb units. Note that the Dwell control is automatically compensated. Therefore, changing the Dwell will not affect the mix unlike a hardware spring reverb, it will just make the sound more “splashy”.

Rearranged Spring Reverb menu so that most commonly used controls are on the same line.

Added Negative Feedback control to UI for Friedman BE/HBE models since this is now a control on the actual amp.

Improved Amp block phase inverter grid clipping model accuracy.
Can we expect an Update to FAS-Reverb with the reverb block changes?
