AXR FX II XL Noise over Palm Mute

Hi,

I have a noise problem with my Axe FX II XL.
I am a guitar player for over 20 years and an audio engineer.
But I never had a problem like this with an amp.

Info:
Firmware Quantum 4.0. No compressor in the effect chain.
Only Noise Gate (Input) Amp, Cab.
I play heavy sounds.
Guitar with EMG active pickups.

The problem is, that the hissing noise of the amp is audible
when I play a palm mute note and hold it.

This is very annoying and not useable for me for recording.

It happens on every amp that fits Heavy Metal.
And with every cab.

Of course the hissing increases when I boost the high frequencies,
but I haven't boosted them to an unnatural level.
Gain is set between 4 and 5. Input trim 1 to 1,5
Nothing from outside is hissing into the sound.
I moved aroound and everything.

Is there a setting I am forgetting.
I never experienced anything like that on an amp.

I recorded a short piece to show you

Thank you for your time.

Sounds like you have to properly setup the noisegate... and maybe study a little of a "gate" works and what happens went it's "open".

The intelligent noisegate mode could help.

Try the classic mode on the noise gate.
I prefer that one usually.
I find that the intelligent mode can cause artifacts like this sometimes.

No, it stills noises a lot.
I turned done the input volume still the same.
It comes from my guitar, with the active emg 81 pickup it noises way more.
And when I bypass the gate, I can hear that the noise
is almost as loud as the normal amp sound.
It doesn't happen with another guitar.

But I used my guitar on real amps and there I don't have the problem.
I will soon try another active pickup guitar and see if it is still the same problem.

If it stays like this, I cannot use the Axe FX.

Try it again on one of your amps...with the same amount of gain—pedals included—as you're using on your Axe.

I run EMG 81/85's in 8 guitars I have and I don't have that issue. It's a noisegate configuration issue IMO.

In my axe fx preset, there is only an amp and a cab block. Nothing else.

The gate is not the problem. It noises so much, that the gate cannot close proberly,
The actual amp sound is only a bit louder.

It is possible that it is the guitar, but it doesn't noise like this on my real amp.

All of this points to noise getting into your guitar. The ultimate test of that: does the noise stop when you unplug your cable from the front of your Axe-Fx? If it does, then it's definitely coming from your guitar or guitar cable.

...it doesn't noise like this on my real amp.
If the noise is coming from your guitar or cable, then you're changing something else when you switch from your amp to the Axe-Fx. Either the amount of gain you're using, or the room you're in, or the interference in the room, or something else gets turned on, or you've got your guitar closer to a source of interference (computer?)...something else is changing.

Is the amp in the same room as the axe fx? Its most likely interference in the room somewhere (computer, lights on dimmers). Turn off all of the gates and move around your room with the guitar plugged in on a preset with a decent amount of gain. Is the noise changing? Getting worse in some places, better in others? Check the floor too. My downstairs neighbor has ceiling lights on a dimmer and just laying my cable across that part of the floor increases the noise I get like crazy.
