Would I regret getting a Standard over an Ultra?

the thing is i'm in Cananda... so...

with money exanche rate and taxes and shipping...

the standard would cost me about 2350$ and the ultra would be almost 3100...

i think i'll go standard for now since I can't afford the 800 more.

i wanna cry but hey, life is tough...

I feel that! I lucked out and bought my Ultra late last spring while the CND and US dollars were right around par.

A lot of finance geeks are expecting the USD to tank soon, when inflation takes off, so I'm hoping by the time the MFC arrives us Canadians will be back to par or better.

I just posted somewhere else on this topic.

Going into it, and I see some of you feel the same way, you can live without some of the effects and the Standard is enough. I decided to go the Ultra route. At first, Standard would have been enough, but then, just putting together a pair of reasonable rigs, I realized Ultra is barely powerful enough to really model the whole thing including room tone, eq, etc. I never had two rigs at the same time, so I didn't even imagine that as a concern going in. Now I see why the pros use multiple amps, they complement each other. And once you're on that path, and you want to maintain room tone and a hint of modulation, you're definitely talking Ultra.

I have a Standard and certainly don't regret it. I don't have a real use for the extra stuff in the Ultra. It's otherwise identical. I could care less if the chip is faster. I don't need more than an amp and cab sim and some delay. I'll never max the resources on it that way.

If I end up getting rid of my tube preamp and go Axe Fx-Only, I could see upgrading to an Ultra though. I figure if it's the only source of my sound, I might as well have the full boat.
