Where's the 1990s Great Music Thread On This Darn Forum??

That's weird, it's visible to me.

It's 'Cold Fire' from the 'Counterparts' album. I've always liked that album.
thinks it's some kind of regional thing - some places see it, others don't. Never cared for the post Spirit of Radio stuff when it was new, but later on really got into it and now enjoy it as much as other Rush eras.

Always loved "chica chica" riffs well before picking up guitar - used to sit in front of the stereo anticipating cool parts like these:

Fast forward 10+yrs I'd pretty well forgotten about chica chica - UNTIL I heard THIS in the 90s - best chica chica I'd ever heard:
STP - Plush - 93

My fave non-Hair Metal Hair Metal band. Their talent is just so deep and profound. Symphonic
in scope on III Sides To Every Story. The He Man riff is just iconic. Nuno's right hand is just wow!

Get your metronomes on standby. :)

The songwriting and playing is so monstrous on their albums.

I saw them in a small club right as Pornagraffiti came out. I did not even have the album yet. I remember Gary Cherone introduced a new song that he was dedicating to his brother and wife who had just had a baby and then Nuno started More Than Words. I instantly felt this was a classic song. What a moment to hear such an amazing song for the first time!

I’ve got tickets to see them in September!

I am loving this thread!

Let’s get some love for Blind Melon. Their first album is an all-killer no-filler collection. Every song has infectious melodies and hooks.

One of my favorites is Change. Given Shannon Hoon’s short life, the song has an extra poignancy. I’ve seen clips where his daughter sings it with the band and it is so moving.

This album came out at an interesting point for me where my college band was still technically together but was coming to an end as I went on to grad school in another state and people got “real” jobs. The line “but we can’t all stay here forever” resonates with me looking back.
