What would the new-gen even have that the current gen doesn’t?

These are great suggestions. I'd love to have a place for short text / comments. And being able to name the Channels would be very helpful.

My #1 current request is to have the "copy / swap scene" function also copy / swap the corresponding scene level in the output block. I use the scene levels regularly, as they're super handy. But it's peculiar to me that when I manage the scenes, I often have to go in and readjust their corresponding levels in the output block. Why else would there be scene levels? Their only purpose is to bound to setting the output of a scene, and it seems to me they should be embedded in the logic that manages scenes.

  1. Also, patch/patch-IR bundle loading from USB, and power from USB 3 port(s)!
  2. The ability to not de-compress-load Dyna-Cabs if they're not being used for a faster boot time.

Axe4 needs the long awaited, much maligned yet incredible talent block. Automatically pitch corrects your bends, tightens timing, inserts melody if you’re above the age of 49 (consent depending) and an extendable paddle that emerges from output 2 to kick your ass when you’re not playing well. (Midi controllable by the drummer of course).

Needs an option to add melodic notes if it detects you only playing pentatonic scale derived lines for too long 😂
 
  • 3 or 4 amp blocks
  • 2u form factor. I don’t want or need a big screen to build a preset and having such a big display is of no practical utility when the software editor is infinitely more usable

(Inb4 ‘but I exclusively use the front panel all the tiiiiime’)

If the next Gen is an Axe FX IV, wouldn't that mean it has to be 4U spaces?
What I would rather see is an AXE IV....sans FX.
Oh, and an FX IV...sans Axe.
Both being 4U and if you buy both together you get stickers that say AXE-FX VIII.
.....and they both must have several Digital Ins/Outs.

Seriously, I would just like to have the ability for every amp model to have a separate preamp and power amp so we could mix and match.
Or, at the least an FX loop on the amp model.
 
Maybe a channel strip/mic pre block could be cool? I know we have the preamps in the cab block right now of different types, but a lot of magic for a lot of channel strips is the EQ points and curves they have (IE neve vs SSL vs API). Having a channel strip block that gave circuit accurate emulations of things like an SSL 4k e or a neve 1073 would be super cool. I know there’s plugins and shit out there that do these, but I’d love to add a 1073 emulation to my bass DI chain entirely in the axe FX for live shows.

Also a stereo tape emulation block with different settings for track vs master tape could be cool for adding different vibes.

This is where I think captures would really take the AxeFx to the next level. Or even building a host for NAM and allowing eight or so instances of it, or until CPU runs out.

That way you aren’t limited to what is modeled. You can mix and match captures of any non time based tone, with any combination of modeled drives, amps, cabs and then doctor them up with Fractal’s world class effects.

If Fractal solves the post capture tone shaping, then it’s game over for all others.

Except for the manufacturers that are building the gear it’s capturing right?

Maybe I have bad memory but did people talk about gear like this in the 60s,70s,80s & 90s etc or were they having too much fun playing music?

You have to think beyond just amp selections. You can capture:

-pedals
-amps
-preamps
-power amps
-eq’s
-cabs
-mics
-mic preamps
-strip preamps
-etc

And you can combine them in any form or fashion that you want.

A new pedal came out that you’re interested in but it hasn’t been modeled yet in the latest firmware? Find a capture and play it.

New Peavey Josh Homme Decade Too combo amp came out too? Try it out and see what all the fuss/fuzz is about.

When talking about next gen, don’t root yourself in defending what you have in the same gen.

Maybe your bad memory forgot about the invention of the internet for the sole purpose of having Internet forums to discuss such things lol
