What guitar are you playing today?

If that finish isn't called Bengal Tiger, then it should be.
I don’t remember the name, I think I can dig it up.

The colors are bolder and deeper in reality. They look somewhat faded in that photo.

This is a different photo from when I first opened the case and my eyes bugged out..

PS -The color is called Orange Tiger, so you were close.

Thanks. It was one of those "it was sitting there for too long online and nobody wanted it so I bought it" things.

The action and setup were totally screwed up and, while returning it back to factory specs on the neck pickup, I accidentally tore out one of the wires and broke the pickup. SOooo, PRS, being PRS, the only way to replace the pickup was to send it in. And, while it was there I decided to waste some money and have them do a full tune-up to it because I wanted to switch to NYXL 9.5 gauge strings.

Yeah, it was an expensive repair and tuneup, but it was worth it. I've enjoyed the guitar, and now, after that little tweak, it's really a keeper. I understand the 509 magic now.

I'll have it and my friends will come over to caress it and moan over it, and I'll be like "Get your hands away you!" :)
Sounds like it was worth it to have PRS sort it out for you.

It definitely was.

I have five core PRS, all were purchased used, and the setups varied wildly. I could tell by the photos used when listing them that several came from a particular on-line warehouse that offered setups and the setups when I received the guitars were consistently wrong.

I’d reset them back to the factory settings but didn’t know if it was because of the factory or the vendor so I had PRS do the guitar and I learned where the problem was, at that warehouse. They were raising the action, presumably to avoid fret noise.

Since receiving the guitar back from PRS I only increased the truss rod’s tension a tiny bit more, a seasonal tweak basically, and it’s perfect for me.

I’d always read about how David Grissom never takes his personal guitar when he’s doing clinics and demonstrations, but instead grabs one from the wall, as a quality-assurance spot-check on his signature model. It was good to confirm that they really are that consistent.

I've read that about Grissom, too - that speaks well of PRS consistency on those models. Too bad the "warehouse" you purchased from couldn't get it right.

My newly acquired Taylor T5z Spruce Natural. Looks cool next to my Strats and Teles. Got a good deal and it's pretty much mint with an ok case.
It's got the electric strings on it now and it plays great but I bought it to play as an acoustic so I am going to try tomorrow with some D'Addario Nickel Bronze, which I have used on my Martin OM28e for years.

I bought a Classic mahogany T5z several years back. I liked it a lot but didn’t like the satin finish. So I sold it and bought the glossy version. It didn’t have the tone the 1st one had so I sold that one too. Nice guitars, super light, and very well built. Maybe I’ll try another one some day. Nice guitar you have!

the j 40. Found my Humbuster cable works like a charm on the acoustic. Crystal Clear. I would not have expected that at all. Mogami you are thru. Humbuster cables must have more :)

While a Humbuster can work, there's nothing it should be doing differently as there's no circuitry in use that's using it.

Maybe the actual cable is just different capacitance?

No, they're just a specific wiring and on the guitar side of the modeler shouldn't do anything.

^THIS^

The Inputs are either XLR balanced or 1/4" unbalanced, and the outputs are either XLR balanced or 1/4" Humbuster which you wouldn't use for a guitar input. See the front and rear panel descriptions for your modeler in Section 2 in the manual.
