Van Halen 5150 Tone Breakthrough

Thanks for supplying them. Not only is your preset great for playing the song, it's also great for just noodling, which is what I mostly do these days.
I sincerely appreciate the kind words! I'm glad you are enjoying the preset. It's insanely fun to noodle on! Playing older VH tunes prior to 5150 with this preset is a real trip! As well as other songs outside VH for sure.

I'm just here to say that FAS is F'n amazing. For us to be able to replicate anything we want plus create our own sound...revolutionary.
@ledhalen45 all of your tone tests are on point. Any one of them would do.
Thanks for saying so! Not how much more tweaking I can do. The chase is never ending, but I'm definitely content on where the sound is so far. And I'm glad others are too!

Which Friedman Dynacab should be in the top cab?
When I downloaded the preset there were three IR's included? What is the third for?
The Dynacab sould be the 4x12 Friedman GB.

The 3rd IR was one I was using up until a point, then decided to not go with it. Didn't realize it was bundled in. Sorry for the confusion.

Thank you for the explanation.
Is the mic on Friedman the Dynamic 1?

And thank you very much for sharing. Great work and very nicely played😀

Yes it's dynamic 1. I can get you the placement settings once I'm home later tonight. The mic isn't right on the cone.

And thank you!! Happy to share. I did the best I could trying to play and sound like him. The tone really is in the fingers 😅

Hey ledhalen, are there any particular tuning offsets you're using? This preset gives me the goosies!!
From time to time, I will use tuning offsets. I'll flatten the B a little bit if I ever find myself playing the early stuff to make the A shape sound a bit more solid depending on what I want to do. Sometimes if I'm recording guitar for my own stuff, I might adjust the tuning depending on what I'm doing and the string-set I intend on using. On all of these recordings though, everything is dead on at 440. I also appreciate the kind words!

I read somewhere some time ago that during the Live Without A Net tour that the Marshall was being rebuild and that he's playing through a Laney among others. Anyone else come across this? Of coure it's the Marshall on the album.
What The Actual F...??? This must be investigated more since one of my my dream tones is that live video tone!!!

So It's been a while, but here are some examples of some new tones with the detuning method mentioned earlier in this thread. I have to do a few more tweaks, but now I want to try to focus on the Balance Era sounds while keeping the 5150 Album tones in the same patch. I also have a Soldano in the patch as well, but forgot to do an audio example. The noise floor on the plexi is a little high for my liking. Not sure what I can do about it, but I'll experiment with it. Let me know what you think!
