Want to fire up your old rack preamps with the Axe? Here's what I do.

For copying parameters, I take a screen shot of the one I'm copying from. Much quicker although not as fast as a good video edit ;-). Sounds great as always!

Wouldn't you get to the same result, using say a JCM800 and then in the advanced parameters change the tonestack type to neutral?
That way you have the JCM800 at once and the preamp then is the same as the tube pre, is it?

I have wondered about this also, but assumed there is character in the preamps, other than tone stack, which is not accessible via exposed parameters - therefore we need to start with the tube pre model and "copy-in" from other models in order to get closest to a given "power amp" model.

I have a question.
If I’d like to use USA Pre model as preamp and Euro Red model as power amp, only thing I need to do is adding changes into USA Pre power amp section by using Euro Red model power amp section parameters?
My favorite guitarist is using Bogner EXC only for power amp section, and he is using triaxis and soldano as preamps, and I’d like to try his settings in Axe Fx.
