Fractal Fanatic
It's been a couple of weeks since my last track... and I wanted to create a new track using my Ibanez 6 stringer... I ended up using Dropped-D tuning. The cool thing is that my bass tuning sounded best when I stayed at my usual Dropped Bb tuning... pretty cool actually. For this track it was the first time I had ever even thought about using a "low gain" amp. After auditioning several of the amps I ended up using the JCM 800. In combination with the stock neck pickup on my Ibanez guitar it actually sounded much better than I ever thought I could get! I'm going to have to try the JCM800 sim at practice.
I started creating this track two weeks ago and I was itching to complete it that same day... but as luck would have it, I had to leave to a work related conference and I was pretty much gone all week. So I was able to get the main "heavy" riff and the verse riff completed before I left then I mp3'd the file and loaded it on my phone. With that I was able to mentally work out the direction of where I wanted the song to go...
Anyhow... most people always apologize about how sloppy their playing was or how bad their mixes are... I'm guilty of that myself. But this time I have to say that this is probably some of my best work... I was very happy with my chords and my performance... and for the first time I didn't purposefully let the track clip at all...
I especially love the last ending chord voicing...
I really wanted to create vocals for this track but I'm drawing a complete blank... the song title has several interpretations... one is the return of our Lord Jesus Christ and the battle that the endured for us... and waiting for his return. The second interpretation is the return of our troops that fight for us and our families so that we can have the freedom to babble on forums like this and speak our minds.
Much Love...
