Old Question! Same answer? or not!

As I recover from my back surgery I have found myself playing different guitars every night (at home)
My old question is do you folks put your guitars back in their cases every night? I have a nice standing rack that holds 5 guitars (NO CASES). It sits collecting dust.
What is the general rule of thumb here or is there one?
Thanks

I hate corrosion, but I also hate the lo-pro-edge plastic bushes wearing down prematurely due to excessive trem-bar insertions, or screwing the antediluvian Fender trem-bar in and out.

Wishing you a speedy recovery.

OK that's enough for me. I play my Fenders most of the time but I know if the Gibson CS-336 was out and in this rack I mentioned I would play it more. The rack has really good padding where it matters.Just one example.
Thanks folks

Funny, I just bought a hardcase because a guitar wasn’t being played from the wall hanger….strings were getting oxidized and of course the guitar was getting dusty.

I have a three-guitar stand, and rotate guitars in and out for various reasons, with one being a favorite of the moment and two others being opposing “colors”, to try different sounds with and to keep my fingers accustomed to. It’s kinda like having different ice creams to compare and contrast.

It’s basically controlled by whim and fancy but there’s usually one with only humbuckers and one that’s all single-coils.

A double-decker guitar stand and a paintbrush to dust it off, that's all you need. I still don't trust hanging it by the neck. I can't imagine that's good for the headstock and the neck-body joint in the long run. I haven't had any problems with it for 30 years, and dry air dries my e-guitars anyway. Otherwise, they could just rust in the guitar case. I also don't have special hard cases anymore. Just refer to my rig in signature.

There is no problem with hanging guitars from the wall. It won’t affect the neck joint, and it’s no worse for the headstock than a regular guitar stand is for the body. In other words...

Your guitar spends most of its life with 100 lbs of string tension compressing the neck. Five or ten pounds of force pulling the other way isn't going to make a difference.
Hanging your guitar on the wall has the same effect on the guitar as switching to a lighter string gauge.
