I posted that I was thinking about this in the What is your guitar whim right now? thread, then added a quick note that I actually bought it, but it deserves an NGD thread of its own.
It's this:
(Shop pics, they're better at this than me.) Used, pretty nearly dead mint, Throbak ER-MVXs, even got a bit of a break on the price.
I went back to the shop 4 or 5 times to play it before I decided to go ahead. I've never spent anywhere near that much on a guitar before, and I'm not 100,000,000% at peace with that. But I played it through my Axe for a while tonight, and I still do really like it.
Tones are great, but it's different enough from my other humbucker guitar that I think it's probably going to need its own presets. It's not dull, at all, but the Throbaks have a lot of low end, I think, still getting my bearings.
It's not effortless to play, but it is comfortable, feels good, and overall, it's great.
