That's why I haven't posted in it! Almost a 100 pages of speculation and I'm still trying to figure out why FAS hadn't announced it here in the News section of the forum?

I can't understand why some seem to be pushing for this to be a successor to the FM3/FM9/Axe III. Why is anyone holding out hope that this includes amp modelling, etc? They already have products that meet these needs entirely. It's clearly something meant to be used in conjunction with traditional amps (reading between the lines and from what can be determined through available Bigfoot pics). Why current modelling users are upset this may not be applicable for them is beyond me. It's a product that seems to be intended to capture a portion of the market (and still a sizeable one) that don't use amp modelling, or that want to pair this other pedal-based platforms (whether modellers, profilers, capturerererers, or trad amps).
 
I'll probably flog my FC12 MKII and just rack the Axe3 permanently after that. I don't need foot control of it in the studio, and I don't need all of the big-boi toys for my live rigs. I just need the Fractal effects, so this is the perfect product for me.

In theory. It might have one or two huge gotchas but we won't know that until the manual is released.

It's a pedal amp thing (I believe). It may have a capture feature. I saw Andy Wood using it on his board, but I didn't have time to go over the details. It was taped over so no one would know it was out. My guess they are around. He was using it with real amps, so I believe it is not a "FM" type unit, but a smaller amp/cab sim with some effects.

For the same reason the other units exist:
  • different form factors
  • an fx only device costs about the same to build as a modeler
  • a modeler works fine as fx only, but a fx device cannot work as a modeler.
