Neal Schon Axe-Fx III vs Axe-Fx II

What the hell has he do to require so many units? I understand having a backup but is that backup of a backup of a backup?

For hangs between songs using two units eliminates the preset switching delay.

So two units for the show and a redundant backup pair with a live switcher to change to the backups on the fly.

I wonder if one of those II’s was for Cain?

No all Neal's tone. But as of this week Jonathan is also on the Axe-Fx for guitars and organ leslie.

Not quite. Here's how the II rig broke down:

Top Unit
Journey Main Show, five presets with amps and effects.

Second Unit
Dry amp presets on a volume pedal, brought in at will by Neal for flavor.

Third & Fourth Units
Backup pair of the above two.

Fifth Unit
FXs only unit, in the loop of units two and four, switching in tandem with units one and three to maintain continuity of FX between 1/3 2/4 across at will amp changes in 2/4.

But, but, only hacks are affected by the preset switching delay. ;)
