Mfc mini?

Anyone know of any plans to make a mini mfc? I literally use like 4 scenes. Especially at practice. A nice tiny 4 button mfc would be awesome! Or does anyone know of an alternative?

i made my own and plugs right into the pedal outlet. im poor after buying the XL+ and CLR Wedge, so had to make one myself. Same for me, dont switch a lot on and off. Quite happy with where i am at present. Be a good idea though for fractal tom release a smaller version of the MFC - it would sell like hot cakes

four-button into the pedal outlet? How does that work If you don't mind me asking?

Nah, just stick with the MFC as it is, the form factor isn't bad, and the price, while not cheap, is fair for all it does.

I used to think I didn't need that many buttons, but I'm always finding new uses, such as that I can assign looper controls to IA buttons so they are always active. Suddenly I'm using 3 extra buttons so I'm glad I've got plenty to spare.

Better to have something you will never outgrow than try to find work arounds for a product that stopped meeting your current needs. Its not like something smaller would be that much cheaper either...

I could get by with say, 12 buttons, but if its $500 for the "lite" version, or $500 for the used fullsized one, I think I'd just go with the full one and know I'll never outgrow it

The MFC isn't that big considering what it can do. I highly doubt a smaller version is in the works.

If you want compact then there are a few companies around specialising in MIDI controllers that have a wide range of product offerings

I have a BJ Devices TB-5 that I use when I don't need a lot of buttons and need a smaller footprint than my MFC+foot controllers takes up. I've got it set up with 4 scene buttons, button 5 switches layers, which turns the 4 scene buttons into 4 IA switches for my common effects (delay, drive, boost, chorus). Great little box.

This box looks great too. I just started using the mfc and I'm kind of lost in setting it up. I wonder if it is hard to get one of these small midi switchers set up to change scenes, while still being able to plug in the MFC when I feel like it without changing a whole bunch of settings.

Yeah...I had Disaster Area Designs make me a custom MIDI device for my FX-8 that gives me instant access to all 8 scenes in my FX-8 while leaving the FX-8 in instant access mode. You could probably get them to make you something similar with just 4 scenes and the ability to switch up and down between presets.

You could pick up one inexpensive 4-switch or two 2-switches and run the cables to your MFC-101 "off stage" or out of the way to get the best of both worlds. There are plenty of MIDI controllers out there but note that "External Switches" connected to the MFC-101 don't have LEDs that follow the Axe-Fx functions and not all MIDI controllers will follow the Axe-Fx effect-block state LEDs or accept and display the Axe-Fx preset name.

All I have to do to switch between the two is literally just change which one is plugged into the Axe. MFC uses the MFC port, and the TB-5 uses the MIDI in/out. Programming the TB-5 is pretty easy. In fact, I change it frequently depending on what my needs are for a gig.

Can the BJ Devices TB-5 display the tuner?

Can the BJ Devices TB-5 display the tuner?

Yes. Just long press your current switch and it'll display the tuner. Also, if you have a switch set for a patch change, it can double for tap tempo (but it doesn't work if you're using the button for IAs or scenes).

That looks really cool, especially for the cost! My biggest concern would be how close the buttons are to each other...

The MC-6 was designed to be as small and compact as possible. It can be customised into a larger enclosure too. Check this out:

On the right is the MC6+. Still prototyping but its has all the features of the MC6, with 2 expression inputs, USB MIDI, larger LCD and more banks.
