Master Volume and Cabs

Correct me if I'm wrong, but doesn't the crux of this centre around the key difference between the tube world and what is now possible in the digital domain via the AxeFX..?

In the Axe FX, it is possible to adjust the amp block 'Level' without it having a direct bearing on its interaction with the cab block, but not so in the real world as it were :)

Also true. But there's no way measure the level hitting the cab block, so you still have to dial in Motor Drive by ear.

If you really wanted to... you could route to a comp or gate block and determine levels based on block settings & gain meter.

All that aside, would it really matter if you knew exactly how hard you were hitting the cab block when considering motor drive? Wouldn't it matter more to just... you know... like or dislike what you hear by experimenting?
