Master/Slave or Both!

Can someone explain if the Midi in/outs can be truly used as a Master unit to drive a keyboard or other midi compatible unit or is it set up to be slaved by a foot controller. If on the Ultra it can be the master, are there parameters such as Play/Feel (meaning that having the slaved unit only sound and not the Ultra at the same time and adjusting for the amount of picking done (hard/soft). There is so much this unit can do that it would be a shame that the midi is only for updating and being slaved by a controller. Thanks!

I think he´s into eventide-thinking about the Axe, ´cause the quality of the effects. But want to use this with keyboards/synths because of its exceptional grid structure and the possibilities it offers. And probably also because it´s probably easier to understand compared to Eventide. And therefore that the midi "should" be able to do more than just program change, controller change and (internal) ADSR, LFO´s, arpeggiators, envelope followers (which all are much inspired from synths).

Of course the horsepower is there, but the goal of the product AFAIK is not to be a general effect processor (as e.g Eventide). However, I am now a bit tempted to try some wurlitzer/rhodes sounds into those amp emulations to do some Portishead(ish) stuff...
