Having not listened to the original in a while, it took me a minute before I realized example #2 wasn't actually the official version.

This is probably the most accurate clone I've heard so far. Great job on the playing, too.

I used with the FAS Brown as the starting point. It's a great model and I think a lot of people overlook it.

yeah man, i think that's about as close as you can get, sounds great.

beyond the human variables, you have to take into account the guitar as well. that was such a unique guitar he was playing, tough to replicate. he would sound totally different if he played the exact rig as the original except for using one of his new guitars. i would call this a mission accomplished.
