Is there a common issue with AE3/FW11 communication?

I see a lot of these kind of threads since the release of AE3/FW11:

Is there a common issue with AE3/FW11 and communication or are these separate problems with different causes?

I guess what I'm getting at is whether Fractal has identified a problem with AE3 and communication with the Axe-FX or if the problems people are having have nothing to do with AE3/FW11.

BUMP

Having the same intermittent connectivity problems with AE as a hell of a lot of other people, can some one from FAS answer the above question?

To my knowledge, Fractal has not addressed this issue one way or the other. AE will timeout on my main computer. Nothing I have tried so far fixes the problem. So I installed it in an old computer and it works so far. It is inconvenient to have AE on a different machine, but at least it works. First World problem for sure. Still, some official word that it is/has/will be investigated would be encouraging.

I had my first connection issue last night - Axe edit just wouldn't 'see' the Ave FX II.... Latest version of everything (Drivers, Firmware & Axedit).... Turned off the Axe FX and back on.. problem solved.

To All,

I am running the Windows 7 x64 and have had the 'Time Out Error' problem with frustrating regularity since updating the USB driver to 168. I have since rolled it back to 167 and found that the time out issue has gone away. I might suggest trying that.

Cheers, Mike

I am getting it intermittently still on the new AE also. I think I will look at drivers. It certainly seems to be a driver type thing. Win Vista 32bit.

EDIT: Anyone have a link to the prior Win driver?

As I understand it, the latest driver release was a fix for Vista systems (though it solved my Fractal-Bot issues on Win7x64). I think many people have had good luck staying with the previous version.

Sigh... I think I will try it with a hub... I know that it is actually recommended to plug directly into the PC but today when I powered down the Axe my external drive which was in the middle of a file copy disconnected. Maybe my PC has some sort of funkiness wrt to its Mobo USB interface that a hub could buffer it from. I figure worst case scenario is it continues to be flaky.

Well, great. I needed to make some patch changes and saw there was a new AE version that was only a few days old. Installed it, and now I can't edit anything. Every block I select just gets a timeout error.

Very unwelcome update. Any good workarounds? Worth mentioning everything was working fine before I upgraded. Is it possible to downgrade to the old version? I have stuff I need to get done for a gig. I can't spend all night dicking around with software bugs.

Long answer: What version did you upgrade from, and what model is your Axe-Fx?

Short answer: contact Fractal support.
