Hoping to get amp/cab captures in Fractal gear in the future, does that appeal to anyone?

I've farted around with the NAM plugin a bit. Meh. Some tones are pretty good but you're stuck with whatever settings the capture maker used. No accurate way to adjust for different guitars, styles, preferences, etc.

Sifting through tons of pre-made profiles gets old really quick. For a free plugin and free profiles, it's pretty cool. It's certainly no replacement for Fractal models for my uses.

Just capture your own amps at your own preferred settings. It is an easy 'problem' to solve.

I would imagine changing the underlying architecture to a hybrid setup like that is not a trivial task.

Cliff and FAS will build the king of amp modelers I have no doubt. If people want captures then to sell more products you need to appeal to what people want. Even if it is inferior lol.

I’m pretty new to FAS products. I bought an FM3 in 2021, the pre turbo with headphone jack. So I’ve never experienced the waitlist thing except I got on the FM9 list and decided to not upgrade. But I haven’t seen a new gen come out. What usually comes out first the flagship or floor units? I’m hanging on to my FM3 until the new stuff comes out knowing it might be awhile. It’s going to be great no doubt!

Next-gen product will have more Dyna-Cabs w/ at least 10 mics per cab (IIRC it's 12).

cue record scratch effect....uhh say a what now?.....next product....!

I’d be more inclined to use Dynacabs on next-gen if they had Ultra-res length inside the hardware.

(considering there is significant info >40ms as stated in wiki)

Cue this thread being a next-gen wish list

Self profiling/capture would actually be a cool feature. Like the tones on the current FW and don't want any changes? Profile it internally.
Adding NAM support makes a lot of sense. NAM being open source and Tone 3000 being what it is, ANYONE with a computer and DAW can make their own NAM captures. Run the capturing process locally, upload them to Tone 3000 for training, download the finished NAM files & load 'em on your (next gen) Fractal box - boom!

To me this makes the most sense because, I assume, it would take a heck of a lot less resources then a ground up build of a new capture tech - the infrastructure is already out there and working great and, at least last I checked, is still fully open source and free to use. I kinda figured this was the route that Line 6 would take but more and more I'm hearing they're doing their own proprietary capture tech thing along with supporting NAM captures.

And this taking less work to implement would mean taking no resources away from what FAS does so well anyhow.

I can't ever see why more features is a bad thing and even with competitors its doubtful we would be where we are today without other ideas/innovations. People can crap on the competition but its had a hand in making a lot of gear what it is today.

My no1 wish is just dumb down the UI and I'm sold lol. Or at least hide the deeper stuff in a tab.

That would be great if FAS does that. I’m on the FM3 and used Ultrares only until I switched to Dynacabs which are short IR’s. Now when I use a legacy IR I just use standard. I like it better, it’s a little more raw or something.
