General Question

I'm stoned. Sorry :/

Whatever, still not a good advice to use speaker cables with guitars unless you invented the 500W output guitar. ;)

... sorry guys, got to go. Off to invent the first three-phase-powered guitar.

Global stereo settings are found my pressing the I/O button, then pressing the Page button to get to the Audio widow.

yeah....we're way beyond that now, fella. he said he did a system reset anyway. the problem is his cables. try to keep up, old chap! :)

Dude those are SPEAKER cables! Do NOT(!) use them neither between your guitar and the Axe, nor between your Axe and your monitors!!! They are not shielded, hence you have all that noise!

Use regular (shielded) guitar cables and you should be fine.

I have two six foot, one ten foot Monster Prolink Performer 500 speaker cable. You are say, use none of these cable with axe? Can this do damage? I can not afford new cable, I just Buy MFC. It will be month before I get pay again.

no, this is not a balanced cable

UNBALANCED cable, or TS Jack - http://www.gggaudio.co.nz/store/image/cache/data/acpmgn-2048x2048.jpg
BALANCED cable, or TRS Jack - http://www.jiscdigitalmedia.ac.uk/images/asti-22-TRS

use the unbalanced cable from the guitar to the axe fx

use balanced cables from the axe fx to the monitors. the jack outputs on the back of the axe fx are unbalanced, so you need to use the xlr outputs. you can use a cable like this - http://www.alectrosystems.com/alectro/catalog/images/products/ASITRSNC3FX.jpg

So I need buy one unbalance instrument cable, two balance XLR for monitor?

or like this - http://images.esellerpro.com/2225/I/230/4/medscale20001-6_2.jpg

holy shit

What? Is incorrect?

Thank you for share but I have trouble with read. Can you summary for me please?

ok, to summarise

he's been using speaker cables, not instrument cables, because the guy in the shop where he bought them was a total douche

speaker cables are unshielded, so no shielding from the guitar to the axe

he's also been using them from the axe to the monitors. the connection in the monitors is likely to be for trs balanced cables, or xlr, so not only does he have no shielding between the axe and the monitors, he's using unbalanced cables anyway

he needs to go back to the shop in punch the salesman in the face. he then needs to go to another shop and buy three new cables - one good quality instrument cable and two balanced cables with female xlr's at one end and either male xlr's at the other, or trs jacks, depending on the connections in his monitors.

So just need Two balance XLR and one unbalance instrument cable? Thank you for this help sir! I am much obliged

I would like that haha! They have wasted over one hundred dollar with useless cable! I think I buy online this time. Is Monster cable at least good brand? I could use reccomend!

You can probably just return the cables for a full refund if you bought them just some days ago. Hope you kept that receipt!

Monster cables are a good brand, but I personally feel they are overpriced. The tonal difference between different cable brands is very subtle. Don't buy cheap, but you don't need to buy the most expensive either.

a hundred dollars?

oh man...

take those cables back to the shop and see if you can get your money back...or at least swap them for the right cables...

it's the jack plugs/xlr connectors that make the most difference. get ones with neutrik connectors, or similar good quality ones. like zwiebelchen says...don't get the most expensive cable, it's not worth it
