Fryette vs Tube head as power amp

Normally Thomann always pays out if you want. Write a quick email. I've always had good experiences with Musicstore.

Edit: Possibly you need to pay the shipping back (partly) to Musicstore. Check AGBs.

I tested the Synergy 5050 this weekend and compared it to the PS700. The result is that I'm not keeping the Synergy, which is far too cumbersome for me to carry and doesn't offer much better sound than the PS700. With dozens of hours of use, I might have finally heard a difference...
I'm waiting for a Palmer Macht I bought second-hand. I might also test Crown, but not the Class A/B which weigh as much or more than the Synergy; they would be more in the Class D range.
I also tested a DBX215S graphic EQ, and I found it very effective for refining the sound towards the amp.

Is the synergy underwhelming or the PS700 so good? My best results for me always come with el34 poweramps. A rare finding nowdays so i use a marshall head fx return. What i didn't like about the palmer was i think a lack of real live use headroom. When played loud class d seems to compress a lot. Way less dynamics and softer pick attacks. Eq was spot on though and very musical, on par with tubes.

Its not compression it's lack of power. You played with under sized class d amps, use one that is capable enough and you won't be able to tell the difference.

Using Google I read the class d have an inherit latency problem compared to class ab. That was my experience as well.
Really? Where did you read that? - I can't find anything on latency difference - I know they are different but I would not have thought there would be much of a latency difference.

Latency in an analog amp?
Don't know how that could be achieved if you wanted to, other than an analog delay, which I'd bet real money isn't part of any snow under consideration her
e.

EDIT: Shows what i know about class D amps, apologies, that's incorrect. As you were.

This could be very low but playing in a big room with a modeler adds up. I definitely felt it with the palmer. With more modern amps I don't know.

The pS 700 has more power margin than the Palmer 2X350W/8 against 2X100W/8, I just made a quick comparison between the 2 models. To return to the Synergy it is not bad, simply for my needs the Synergy brings more constraints including the weight than advantages.

This weekend I did a rehearsal with a new band and I was congratulated on the quality of the guitar sound, I was playing on the band's PA with all the other members of the band. Clearly the sound of the tube amps is very predominantly in the Fractal!

This is 100% pure bullshit. Don't believe everything you read on forums especially the guitar forums. Lots of people with lots of ideas that come from their asses.
Not ready yet to trust AI with answers to these type things on the web tho it can be a good starting point - I prefer to slog thru and find direct references from a credible source.

I have no problem removing those posts if that hurts your eyes so much. I thought high of fractal community but I was wrong. I'm out of here.

This says “microseconds”
For the best designs. For the worst, miliseconds especially if dsp or extra steps are involved. Anyway i tried class D and it's a no go for me once and for all. I'll stick to tubes.

If dsp is involved, you’ll get latency regardless of amp class

That’s like saying that you tried coffee at McDonald’s and determined once and for all that it’s a shitty drink.

But whatever works for you, of course.
Mc donald's is even worse:D
