Were the volumes balanced out better between the factory presets? My current version factory presets and all prior ones had massive volume variance between presets.
When the Amp block is improved we might have to adjust our sound. We've lately had improvements to the triode modeling, power tube parameter adjustments and changes to the phase inverter modeling, which can all affect the sound out of the Amp block.
I'm making small tweaks to my presets but overall the sound is noticeably better.
Again.
There will always be volume differences between presets, unless you're using exactly the same guitar and pickups that were used when the preset was created.
For instance, some of the factory presets are nicely leveled when I play them with my LP-style guitar with PAF-style pickups. But if I switch to a Tele, those same presets have significant volume differences.
I notice the same with my own presets. Clean presets don't get pushed as hard by single-coils, and "crunch" presets with single-coils barely begin to break up. Lead presets work OK.
BUT, on stage, at stage volume, I've also found that the additional speaker volume hitting the strings and affecting the pickups, can make my Strats come alive because they're sending additional signal to the amp with the speaker and pickup acoustic feedback.
It's not just pickup sensitivity, it's also the guitar's construction, the weight and metal blend of the strings, your distance from the speakers, the gain in the amp….
I have a nice smattering of PRS guitars and a Fender American Deluxe Strat and a homemade "beater" Strat. And, oddly, the two Strats are the two that really will hold the notes. I think the PRS are better-built guitars, but those Strats, or maybe it's the modifications I've done to them because they're definitely not stock, make them extremely responsive.
