FM9 Case?

I have this exact same case. Been gigging with it for a while now and it is worth every penny.
 
After researching for days and reading this entire thread.. I was against getting a hard case as I don’t need it - soft case is more than enough for my needs. But I just could not find a soft case I was happy with.

I saw someone else on this thread used a pelican 1535 case and with a bit of creativity with the foam cutting - fit some stuff underneath.

So here’s my result - very pleased!

I just need to use a bit of spray adhesive to stick the foam blocks so they don’t annoy me when pulling gear in and out.

I purposely left the centre gap but a third expression would easily fit in there.. or a spot for the short expression cables perhaps.

Size wise, the 1535 is only not that much bigger than Kemper Stage bag.

Looks like ir just bearly fit or is it the angle of the picture? Would love to see how you set up the underneath

Yes it literally just fits width wise.

But “barely” fits = it fits.

You can see the underneath clearly in the photos.

The expression pedals are sitting on the floor of the case surrounded on each side by foam but not underneath or on top.

On the left and right sides I have put blocks of foam on top of that foam about 1.5 inches wide, which raise the two sides up just slightly higher than the level of the expression pedals.. which become the holders for the FM9 which is sitting on those two foam blocks. So the base of the FM9 is almost touching the tops of the expression pedals (but not quite). So the FM9 itself is the “lid” covering the expression pedals.

The case lid foam then closes down on top of the FM9.

It’s all solid and nothing is moving.

Would it be “roadie throwing in the back of a truck with zero care” worthy? Probably not. For that you’d want the FM9 completely encased solidly in foam on all axis.

Would it be fine for air travel in an overheard compartment - absolutely. (Not that I require that… my transport consists of back of my car to venue.. not exactly dangerous).

I have the Peli Storm iM2500. It's almost the same size as yours and does fit the FM9 perfectly. Two expression Pedals underneath.
 
I probably posted the link to this a couple years ago when I came across it, but I finally ordered it Monday and it showed up today-

For $259, this thing is impressive. It's not a lightweight flight case, it's a legit one. It also comes with it's own pedalboard, which was part of the reason I purchased it as I can put my actual pedals on that board and depending on what I'm doing for a gig I'll have the case for both. There's wheels on the bottom so you can roll it behind you. Everything is high quality, handles, wheels, latches, etc.

My only gripe- After I bought it I realized they updated their website and the Amazon listing to state "Note- Case is only item included with purchase", despite not removing any verbiage about the pedalboard. I emailed Harmony Cases directly but they have yet to return my email, fortunately, it showed up with the board inside. I don't know if it was leftover stock or what, but they should certainly clarify that via the website and listing, since it shows the pedalboard in the pictures AND in 2 different descriptions, as where "Case is only item" only shows up once, at the very bottom.

Note- Awesome dog is not included.

Remember that any vibration from rolling the case, or shock such as it getting banged around especially if it hits one of the ends, is going to be transferred directly to the FM9. The internal ribbon-cable connections in the FM9 can work their way loose because of that. A longer case would be better, something with at least 1" but preferably 1.5-2" on each end; 2" in every direction is what I'd use. Without that I'd open the FM9 and put some beads of hot glue on the ribbon connectors to keep them from coming loose.

I used to do milspec packaging of all sorts of equipment so I'm paranoid when I see electronics packaged without adequate cushioning. And, while we are protective of our gear, anyone who's helping load in or out probably won't be aware or nearly as protective. It wouldn't hurt to mark the case "FRAGILE ELECTRONICS".

For me it’s perfectly fine. I’m the only person that touches my gear and it’s literally only for walking to and from my car.
 
Does anyone know of a "decksaver" type cover for FM9? I've seen them for several other modelers - but not FAS. I've got a backpack that would be great for carrying the FM9, but don't like the idea of the knobs buttons getting banged around as I move.

And the clear plexi face shields look really cool, cosmetically, but don't seem like they'd actually offer much protection.

The shure wireless is fed through the Faslink output + I've modded the Xotic pedal so it can serve as a normal volume pedal or expression.
