FM9 and Recording/Mixing/Practice

Hi! I love my FM9, I've had it for about a year now. It's extremely versatile for tone-chasing and sculpting, which is 80% of what I've used it for. Cubase/Nuendo is my DAW.

I'm trying to learn how to mix music and record covers as well as practicing guitar. But, there seems to be a gap in between tutorials for recording covers/guitar as a beginner and professional level workflow. I guess what I'm trying to ask is- what is your workflow for mixing music using your Axe? Are there any tips or advice you wish you knew when you started out?

Thanks in advance, and sorry if it's too many questions at once, haha.

And before anyone says anything, I know the answer to my main question is, most likely, "just do it, be bad at it and eventually get better". It's the dreaded answer, but probably the truth lol

That's obviously a deep topic. For a book suggestion, I can recommend Mixing Secrets for the Small Studio. Also, Izotope has some good tutorial videos. For example:

Thanks for the suggestions! I'll check both out as well as izotope's channel!

Plenty of great free resources are available online however if you prefer a structured approach browse through online sites like Udemy.

There are plenty of very reasonably priced short courses that are helpful. I did one of these when I started to dive into Logic and while it wasn't anything I couldn't find elsewhere, a clear laid-out approach certainly cut down the overall learning time.

The waves plug-ins are fantastic.
I recommend the abbey road bundle and especially the L2 Ultramaximizer plug-ins.
That L2 is simple but really does the job on a mix !
