FM3 Firmware Version 12.0

I’m one of the people who picked up on a this with FW12. For me it was a change in the harmonics and artifacts from pushed tubes that sounded different than FW11. I got used to it and it’s not bugging me anymore but it’s still there. I’m not using any high gain tones though.

What you’re describing sounds like the normal intermodulation distortion that you get from overdriven tubes. The real amps do that. It’s like a crackling fizz on the decay most pronounced with multiple strings but the more gain you use the more IMD you will get.

I don’t think anything is wrong, it’s just different from where it was in FW11. It was mentioned that there were modeling changes for 12 so I’m assuming what I’m hearing is the changes.

I don't think it's intermodulation distortion from what you're describing, my old rack preamp does that and it's different from what I'm hearing here.
This is more obvious on single notes and is just a consistent white noise hiss that's audible right after you pick a note.
It's intermittent which is odd, I ruled out fret buzz by playing at the last fret and tried a few different guitars.
Might not be noticable through speakers but through headphones at least to me and compared to my other gear It's quite annoying.
Also tried reducing my high cut down from 8000khz to 5000, can still hear it but it sounds less bright.

Please share audio sample.
If you don’t hear it on your own gear then you won’t hear it on my gear. Most people don’t notice it. Some do. I’m not doing anything wrong nothing is broke, settings are good, and it’s on all the amps I use since FW12.

Does it seem to bloom a little at first and then backs off? Maybe we’re hearing the same thing if so.

I'm using firmware 9.02 beta 2.

I'm using firmware 9.02

This is the 1st time I’ve considered rolling back. I like the new toys but I might have been happier with the sounds on FW11. Without ABing I’m just going off memory. Did you just stay on 9 or roll back from another version?

I stayed on firmware 9.02 beta 2 because the newer firmware versions that followed had a sound dropout issues. For now, I'm staying on the sidelines as an observer.
I haven't tried firmware versions 11 and 12.

I would say yes, appears right after the inital attack on the note.
Also noticed that it seems to be intermittent, was bad yesterday and couldn't hear it today.
Reminds me of a similar issue with a recent AXFX firmare.

I get the first time the INPUT CLIP message in red, that appears on the home screen over the mini tuner at the top. I played a Suhr SSV humbucker that is not too powerful. The Input Pad is already set to -18.
Is this dangerous? What can I do beside lowering the pickup?

Is this dangerous?
It’s not dangerous but certainly undesirable. If your pad is maxed out there’s not much you can do short of lowering the pickup or using some sort of a buffer. But if it happened just once maybe don’t do anything right now.

I'm experiencing some hangs in new firmware 12.

FM3 connected to PC and FM3Editor ... Hangs with cpu-limit presets, some changes in LFO's (from sin to saw...) ... Also I'm having problems with input and output levels (4 cable method is not working properly...)

It will be nice to control layouts (views) and songs controlled via midi... It will be an easy implementation, but I understand Fractal wants to sell FC6 and FC12... but then the "compact" concept dissapears.

Anyone else getting the INCLIP alert near the tuner post the new firmware ?
Keeps popping up despite reducing levels , gain , master volume and input trim
Angle Severe 1 model

Never had this before , same guitar same setup
Just firmware update
Will look into the input pad setting or do a re update and check
Thanks

Strange

You didn’t change strings? New strings will increase output.

Or maybe you just didn’t notice clipping before?

Fractal devices specs say maximum input level is 16 dBu, which isn’t nearly enough for hot passive humbuckers, not sure if this spec is with the pad at max value or not (probably isn’t, otherwise it would be clipping like crazy). With one of my guitars, I had to use wireless, otherwise I just couldn’t avoid clipping.

I get the clipping with the not very hot Suhr SSV humbucker, DC RESISTANCE: ~ 9KΩ and maximum Input Pad.
Never saw the clipping sign before this update.

If you're hanging due to CPU, then adjust your presets to not be as CPU intense...

You know this is "easy" how?

That's not how you control Input clipping.

Adjust the Input Pad setting.

You came from what firmware version?

Pickup resistance is not a measure of how "hot" it is...

I install every new firmware and beta as soon as they are released.
With previous versions, even with pickups that are more powerful than the SSV, which has medium output at best, I have never seen the input clipping signal.
In the past, the input pad function worked reliably to prevent clipping, even with powerful pickups. Something seems to have changed.
Fortunately, I don't perceive any distortion with my ears.
