FM3 Firmware Version 12.0

Do you all hear any tonal difference? Every update claims a big tonal difference but I hear a little improvement.
Don't get me wrong, super stoked for updates but just curious if you hear any improvements with this one?

I heard a difference between 11 and 12. Not hearing much difference between the V12 b1 and b2 and I’m assuming the b2 is same as the release. I think the preamp modeling was improved for b2 but my ears have taken a beating and it’s hard to tell. It does sound excellent and that’s all I can say.

So I'm a fan of the changes over all, but 512 custom IR slots is getting a bit thin for me. I'm not sure a mandatory reduction in storage by 50% is reasonable without options being provided.

I general like to have a few full Ownhammer/York audio packs installed to cover different speaker types (V30/T75/K100, etc) and I like to have all the microphone options available to me.

Each one of these packs are usually 200 or so files if you exclude the minimal phase versions. Coupled with the fact that the new Dynacabs aren't really very useful to me, this feels like it's a needless hampering of the flexibility of my FM3. The IRs I do use are being replaced by ones I won't.

I think you need to consider a way to maybe allow Dynacabs to be installable on a cab by cab basis or allow us to remove stock IRs to allow users to actually have a choice in the matter.

You do have a choice you still have 512 slots. There is already a wish for being able to swap out onboard Dynacabs. Considering FAS has introduced 2 new products and is also working on the next gen devices I doubt things will change with cabs but you never know. You can also roll back to FW11 if you need that many slots.

I didn’t update fm3 editor until after firmware and dyna cabs…..it doesn’t seem to b affecting anything but I’m not sure what to look for?

There's a strange bug in the JC120 model. If the output compression is more than 0 and the speaker impedance curve is set to 1x15 Heart Key, 1x15 Portabass, or the Oxbox Loadbox, a low frequency oscillation begins a few seconds after playing a note through the amp. I've attached a preset with scenes for the various settings, plus a default scene with the JC120 impedance curve that doesn't exhibit this issue. The output comp is set to 3 in all scenes and the oscillation gets worse if the output comp, speaker impedance, or cab resonance is increased. I have the resonance for the two 1x15 cabs set to where the oscillation begins but for the Oxbow it happens at any resonance, including 0%. Setting the output comp type to "gain enhancer" stops the oscillation, but it occurs on both "output" and "feedback" modes.

I apologize for asking this question, which I'm sure has already been answered in another thread, but after updating the software from version 11, everything worked perfectly and the process was incredibly easy with Fractal Bot.

However, I'm still wondering if it's necessary to update the factory presets? According to what I saw online, the file is from june 2025 ready for version 10.0 and up, but perhaps the file is new, different, or optimized (?
There are no newer presets...

Sorry if it has been asked before :

I got a lot (!) of presets using only 2 irs stored in slots that gonna be removed with this update.

Is there a way to mass change the irs slots numbers in my presets?
Or I have to change everything manually?

Thanxs.

I think the fastest way to do this is to move your IR's to the new spots. Create the updated cab block and save it to the library. Paste the cab block to the affected presets.

Can you batch set it? (shift-key and right-click in FM3Edit on the cab-ir slot nr., "set in multiple presets")

512 IR slots are still a LOT but I agree with you. Maybe adding an option to select which dynacabs to keep, in order to have 1024 IR slots will be a good idea.
