One other band crossed my mind that i want to mention: Threshold has really good songs, and i listened the album Legends of the Shires dozens of times....

Legends of the Shires is quite a brilliant album

Camel have been briefly mentioned already. Andy Latimer is up there with Gilmour in my eyes, and he gets some of the best LP tones I've ever heard
