Faslink power details - need specifics

Hi all,

Trying to understand how the Faslink actually works over XLR - does anyone have any info on the XLR pins used for power and midi?? The CAE RST midi foot controller says its can accept phantom power over XLR so needing to check if there is compatibility between the Axe & the CAE.

So, what I need to know is:

1. Whats the setup of the XLR cable? (eg: pin 1 = power, pin 2 = midi out etc)
2. Whats the power supply output? eg: 9v dc?

FASLink is a proprietary communication link developed by Fractal. It's not compatible with any gear that doesn't have a FASLink connector.

But there may be phantom-power compatibility between the Axe's MIDI port and the CAE RST, if the RST can accept phantom power on its MIDI connection.

don't try it. it's FAS only gear.

Thanks appreciate the advice but do you have specifics on how the Faslink connection works over XLR?

The only thing we know: it's carrying power and bidirectional data over three wires, so there must be some kind of multiplexing going on. Which means you won't be able to adapt it to MIDI with just connectors and wires.
