Confirmation on just how the waiting list is going to work ?

That's exactly why I'm asking for confirmation ....

When Fractal rolled-out the MFC-101 I got on the wait list ( and was in the top 50 ) on 2/7/2009 .... I finally received my o.k. to purchase and use my $ 100 off coupon on 4/20/2011 ( 802 days later ) ....

REALLY ?
Well, there was the little thing that there were exactly none shipped the first two years of this time. They didn't get rolled out from the first date you mentioned, they were announced.

I will repost something like I wrote earlier: The sale of these products pay for Cliffs mortgage and the support of his employees. There's nothing he wants more than to put AXe-FXs (and MFCs for that matter) in people's hands and their money in his bank account. SO: IF HE'S NOT SELLING THERE MUST BE SOME DAMN GOOD REASON WHY! AND HE PROBABLY DOES NOT CURRENTLY HAVE CONTROL OVER IT. In business you can't predict everything and there are so many things that can and will go wrong.

Also, you just can't open up a can of skilled electronics experts to assemble a flood of highly specialized equipment in a months time and throw them in the garbage once the flood subsides! Just screamin "Cliff should have known" doesn't change that it's simply impossible to get it done anyway!

Perhaps we should just get used to it then rather than try to expect something different.

And I think that part of it was because of the urging of the prospective buyers and countless complaints that necessitated the move to the list.

It is what it is. Fractal Audio is not Line6 and that's a lot of what makes the AxeFX stuff what it is. If you want bean counters, warehouses full of crap, stockholders and CEO's that are worried about overhead and bottom lines you aren't going to get an AxeFXII at the price it is now let alone get one at all because no one out there has done it to date.

Once again, I quote the old rules of business:

1. You can have it done cheap
2. You can have it done fast
3. You can have it done right

Now pick 2 of those because it's impossible to do all three. ;)

You are a very wise man sir and I believe correct as well!

And you would be wrong ! True I was on the waiting list approximately 12 months before they were offered in the store and began shipping.

But it was another 12 months before I received notification of my $ 100 off coupon.

You don't believe me, search the forum. I believe you'll find they were shipping at or around June 2010 ( possibly eariler ). The first coupon purchasers were notified in Aug 2010 ....

I think as soon as he saw a problem with the chassis' he should have made an announcement there was a delay. Then when he got them in, announced "chassis' are in and I project shipping will begin, in say 45 days."
FAS basically stopped shipping first gen units after the AFX2 announcement on May 1st. That means that aside from some B-Stock units, MFCs, and the trickle of AFX2s, there's not been a whole lot of cash flow. Are you really suggesting that he exacerbate that situation by not selling items that are ready for sale? All that assumes that FAS has space to store such "inventory". In the meantime, rent needs to be paid, suppliers' invoices come (past) due, and those pesky employees want paychecks.

An awful lot of people around here are offering Cliff advice on how to run a small business when they clearly haven't done so. Dunno if you're included in that group but your advice might indicate you are.

I see a lot of people seem to have inside information on Cliff's personal and business finances.
No inside info here but I have a whole lot of experience in making payroll while my company had cash flow issues. One doesn't need to audit anyone's books to surmise that a company's cash flow suffers when they phase out one product and its replacement is delayed. Not sayin' that they're struggling to make payroll but its probably safe to say that it might stretch their finances to sit on inventory to provide an initial surge of boxes.

Your wasn't as presumptive as the one regarding Cliff's personal finances and needing to pay a mortgage. For all we know Cliff does this for enjoyment.

I"m just happy there is a list. Alot of people are complaining about it but let's be honest on why this is a good idea. Imagine you are a forum member here at Fractal and have been waiting for this product for weeks, maybe months. You sit and click the Yahoo site all day long until your finger hurts. Months later, and still without an Axe-FX, some rich guy who reads "Guitar Afficianado" or some other crap, just happens to click the button at the right time while on his private jet, sipping champagne. He knows nothing about the unit but with the hype, decided to "try" one.

Why should that guy get to jump in front of people that were here from the beginning and have known about the Axe-FX for years? Lines are what make things work. At Disneyworld you jump in line, at the unemployment line you wait in line. The world is better with lines. :)

I don't know what you're talking about. I cut in line at disneyand all the time. I take a tickt for a fast pass...its like a waiting list that let's you cut in line of those waiting, haha.

Rats. I read through all the posts but there is zero information here about the topic.

I'm still on the MFC waiting list (got on it fairly late) so I don't even know the details of how it is supposed to work. Is the MFC just a coupon that you use when you find one in stock?

Someone needs to get the real info and post it, instead of just posting competing speculation.

Edit: I now find that this is not how the MFC list worked; when you get a coupon it comes with a link allowing you to make the purchase.

I assume that the system has not changed since when I got on the MFC list last September. I waited five months, no email. I then sent an email to inquire about status. Respecting the email privacy, I won't include # of units per day mentioned in the email reply, but the reply was: "We put [x number of units] a day in there and they sell out in a couple hours". I checked the store, and was able to purchase an MFC101 the next day, full price. Obviously the MFC-101 demand has again spiked with the Axe-FX II launch. The system is the same, however. Units go into the store and if you have good timing and fast fingers you can order one.

Mark,
Do you really think the Vetta is where I "want" to be??
C'mon now.....
But some of the other posters are correct. At least if you go by the history of these releases. Don't forget. I didn't just happen to pop by because I saw an AFX ad in a guitar magazine. I've been around since the first waiting lists. If this was the first time this crap has happened. No biggie. But it almost seems like a way of just doing business. When I had hoped things would have changed and gotten more efficient.
"plenty of units to go around", "chillax", "around the 6th",
No waiting list, now a waiting list (which is a good thing), but with a $100 increases in the retail price? People with the extra $400 will pay the money when these pop up in the yahoo store. Where do you think this will leave us?? Oh, where in line alright... After the retail demand has wained. With a line set up this way, you were better off the way it was before if you would like to get a new AFX in a reasonable amount of time, ( by getting lucky in the yahoo store).
I think as soon as he saw a problem with the chassis' he should have made an announcement there was a delay. Then when he got them in, announced "chassis' are in and I project shipping will begin, in say 45 days." He could have then started the waiting list and used that time to assemble units for shipping. Filling most orders in that first wave.
People would have hung onto their AFX's and been able to plan better for the purchase.
A lot of people sold their AFX's cheap because eBay was flooded with ultras at one point. But now with the higher list price ultras will be worth MUCH more. If I had sold one dirt cheap (which i did) only to see this happen and the ultras to be worth much more money, I would be pissed. And am.
Would'a, could'a, should'a. It is what is. What are you gonna do?
I like most others am just venting. It's very frustrating.
-Chris

Actually, the longer I've had to think on this, the more I understand how you feel. The price bump on top of everything else is a bit of a bitch slap. This is one of the forums where venting is kinda' understood. I would feel worse if I didn't just spend an hour playing through my Ultra (insert evil laughter here). I actually thought they were going to be prepared for this launch...my bad. Stoking demand with a little scarcity can be a great marketing ploy, but only for a little while.

Yeah but you had to get that Fastpass before everyone else. You are the psycho rider who wants to get on everything. We are the psychos that want to ride the tones. :)

A lot of you guys are totally missing my point .... The MFC reference is only a parallel ....

I just bought a MFC early last week and was able to use my $100 off coupon at check out.
