Cannot Update Firmware, cannot connect via USB

Searched a lot of forums for a solution, but I am still having trouble.

Running my AxeFx III MkII Turbo into my PC. I never had an issue until last week when the unit stopped communicating with my computer via a USB-B to USB 2.0 cable. I purchased three new cables and even tried USB-B to Type C, but AxeEdit III, Fractalbot, and the computer do not detect the device. Specifically, AxeEdit III says "Disconnected!" and the fractal bot does not have the AxeEffects appear as a drop-down option via USB. I checked various ports and tried a different computer (MacBook Pro), and ran into the same issue. I tried different devices through all ports on the computer and confirmed that the ports and cables are working - not just power, but data, too. Despite attempting to update the firmware before this issue, my unit says it is on FW28 and running USB FW 1.15. I realize I need to update these, but the unit will not communicate with my computer.

I tried a MIDI IN/OUT to USB, and while Fractalbot and AxeEdit say "Connected," I cannot get the firmware to update. After hitting send, the software says there is no response from the axefx and times out. I tried booting in safe mode/emergency boot (by holding L+R when turning on) and performed a memory check, which passed, but I still cannot update the firmware and continue to run into the same issue with the update timing out. I also tried uploading a previous firmware version, but no firmware update will occur due to the timeout issue. I suspect the USB-B to 2.0/C is not detected because the firmware for the unit and the USB are outdated, though I cannot update the firmware because the unit does not communicate with the computer. I also ensured the drivers are all updated to the latest versions, and redownloaded AxeEdit III and Fractalbot.

Looking for a solution. I am suspicious that the USB-B port on the back of the AxeFx is dead, but I would like to rule out firmware or other issues first. I am also wondering if there are specific settings on the AxeFx that I need to change for the MIDI cable to communicate appropriately with the computer. Any help is appreciated. Thanks.

It happens to me frequently with AXE FX III and FM9.

I've found that the firmware update communication is more demanding than the Editors' communication, the first Fractalbot communication and Cablab too, less critical.

In addition to the suggestions already given,
for firmware & dynacabs update try to use an even shorter cable, good quality one and remove any eventual extension cable.
