My bass already has higher action, I like it better for slapping - seems to let the string ring out better without fret buzz....
But that makes the string 'rebound' more when you lift off your finger after fretting the string, which means I have to be more dramatic with lifting my fretting fingers when moving so I don't get that 'scraping' sound. That's the technique issue I feel I need to clean up the most... on guitar, the action is low so I'm used to hardly lifting up, but on bass I have to be more exaggerated....
From sound clips, I'm not sure I like the flat round/half round string tones. So I probably won't go that route.
