UPDATE: All resolved. The issue was my own stupidity in leaving an FX send block active.
So I just got a Dingwall NG2 5 string, which is working great with the Axe FX II. I'm using the Citrus Bass 200 preset from Austin Buddy's pack, which sounds great to start with.
Normally when I record guitar I have no problems at all getting the right amount of level, however when recording bass, it seems to be much quieter. Both my guitar presets and the bass preset are all sitting right on the line in the VU meter on the Axe. Even when pushing the input level on my interface and dragging the fader all the way up in Cubase, I'm only getting 'almost enough' volume, which doesn't seem right to me.
Any thoughts on this? It seems strange, as both my guitar and bass presets read at the same level in the VU meter...
