Axe-Fx III Firmware 31.03 Release

Hi Fractal family,

Cliff, a huge thank you for this pitch block update!
The improvement is enormous compared to the previous version.
The latency is practically imperceptible, and there are no more glitches on electric quitars, still a few with acoustic guitars (maybe due to the input level...?) but it has improved very significantly.

Honestly, it's now on par with Digitech, or even better.

MERCI MERCI MERCI

Happy holidays Fractal people!

Spent a considerable amount of time with the new Virtual Capo shifting down from D Standard to C Standard and D Standard to A Standard.

Impressive results with regards to tracking and latency/feel.

Impressive enough that I did some loud play-throughs of some covers and “in the mix” all imperfections were imperceptible.

There is a very slight feel difference, but if given enough time, your playing can acclimate and adapt to it without much compromise in my opinion.

I also noticed that the transposed tone has a more accurate timbre compared to the original pitch. It’s not 100%, with the original having a slightly more crisp tone, but it’s not night and day difference as before.

Great work, Cliff & Crew. You’re closer than ever to perfection.

For the Virtual Capo do you folks use Chords all the time, notes all the time or switch in between. As an example of how I use it, I take my guitar from E Standard to E Flat for songs like "Talk Dirty to Me", I would think Chords for the main part of the song is obvious, the solo doesn't have a lot of single notes, and when it does it tends to be bent or fast notes that move to the next quickly. I do have a solo scene so I could change the mode easily, but curious what others are doing?

I’d like to hear users of the virtual capo’s thoughts on this as well.

Use Chords. Notes is really only used when you want to do harmonies. I contemplated removing Tracking Mode from the Virtual Capo but ultimately left it in for legacy reasons.

Is there a tracking adjust you recommend? I'm currently at 7.15. Going to play with it at sound check today but didn't know if a default value like 5 had different logic that would be recommended.

Tracking adjust was removed on this FW update. On previous FW I use Tracking Adjust 6 with good results.

Must still be in the UI because of the lack of new Axe-Edit version, in that case I assume it doesn't matter what it is set to.

My chorusy acoustic sim patch now actually sounds usable with VC all the way up to +7 - Oh no - now I have no excuse not to attempt learning that damn Hotel C again (I hate physical capos).

Nice update - 👍👍

Happy NY
