Axe-Fx III Firmware 31.02 Release

My unit has the same issue as @James Freeman has described and demonstrated. As he has written it can be heard best with the guitar tone fully closed, but it can also be heard with a "normal" sound. I tested it with AC15/AC30/AC20 and the Deluxe Reverb.
It can clearly be heard with studio monnitors (with cab sim), but it is still there without cab sim and a power amp and guitar cabinet, just not as pronounced.
I also think that there is something wrong. No amp I have played in almost 30 years sounds like that.
And the last two tube amp that I own (DIY AC-15 and Fender style) definitely do not sould like that! I have an Amp/Cabinet switcher and can easily switch between the amps and the Axe FX and use them with the same cabinet. So the amps and the Axe FX can be easily compared. And then it is very clear to me that the amps don't sound like that.
Actually, I am quite shocked that Cliff claims to not hear anything wrong. My hearing is not very sensititve to details, with most of the firmware updates I don't hear any changes, but this time even I can clearly hear that something is not right.

Please roll back to 31.00 and see if the problem persists.

I'm 63. I've also just had a tumor removed from my chest and my hearing is still a little wonky from the surgery. Please try to be understanding. No need to be insulting.

Not sure if related, I had experienced some of that weird high end, but was able to get rid of it by disabling the Input 1 noisegate and using a Gate block instead.

I just rolled back to 31.00. Now the issue is gone.

English is not my native language, so probably not all statements come across as intended.
Of course, I wish you all the best. Take your time to recover. You would have all the right to take it slowly.

just wanted to extend some grace to Cliff for continuing to do his utmost to provide an authentic experience of a truly formidable catalog of amps. hopefully there can be some valuable learning experiences for the community as we discover workarounds and practice patience with one another

But you do hear that in my recording?
Anyone else hears that buzz even with power amp OFF?
Yeah. I'm hearing the same thing on the Double Verb Normal. PA off both in the block and in the overall Axe III settings. Epiphone LP Custom, 490R in the neck about 2mm from the pickup, tone rolled all the way off. It's subtle, and not quite as pronounced as it is in your clip, but it's definitely there.

Also hearing it in the Jazz 120 model as well, but that might have been there before. That model and I always fight, lol.

To clarify: This isn't a dealbreaker for me at all. I'd be very hard pressed to hear this in any realistic scenario, as I basically never play with the tone knob rolled all the way off, nor without a cab block.

I was able to recreate this. I don't know what I did but it just started doing it. It's also measurable. A bunch of even order distortion is being generated at the input of the preamp. I have no idea why. I reran the simulations and they aren't doing it.

I rebooted and it was still doing it. Rebooted again and the problem went away. So there is definitely something odd going on.

I will get to the bottom of it.

By golly I can relate to THAT.. 62, Osteoarthritis in both hands, Cervical Disc Replacement xs3 in the neck and loss of hearing in left ear {1 too many live performances in front of stacks....I hope you get well soon!!! And as always Lovin the updates..

Thanks Cliff! Take all the time you need. I'll roll back to the previous firmware.

Gotta love those heisenbugs 😬

Nothing more maddening than a problem that disappears the moment you start looking for it.

Gremlins. Shifty little bastards are active this time of year...

I swear I’ve been hearing this on the FM9 for a while now. I’ll wait until the smoke clears in this and circle back to it.

Not hearing any anomalies here on the amps mentioned.
Windows 11 machine.

Dunno.

Take your time…heal, rest, etc. everyone can roll back for the time being. Your health is more important to you and your loved ones than AxeFx and its users. Enjoy the holidays and reconvene after the New Year. You more than deserve the time off! Happy Holidays Cliff and Company!

Allow me to swim against the stream for a few more posts, I'm losing social credit but the sound is far more important.

Double Verb Normal with Gain = 1.
Power Amp (including phase inverter?) = OFF

I must assume this horrid distortion is coming from the preamp.
Cliff, please continue investigating this lest this firmware reaches the ears of Steve Vai then we're all cooked. 😆

just sounds too bassey to me?
