So then I could do the drive block ... and ir block ... in addition to 2 amp blocks ... and 2 cab blocks
Hello? Robert Trujillo? Hey, hold on I'm gonna conference in Taylor Swift. <click> Everybody here? Yeah? So.... you guys, there's somebody on the Fractal forum who is stealing the idea behind all the bass presets we made together. Y'all might wanna come down here and give 'em what for.

Tried the old "lo-fi" trick with this EQ type:
lowest 2 and highest 2 bands all the way down, middle 3 bands all the way up.
Yup, works. Model validated.
Co-signing this. The lo-fi trick, and the “Gretsch chime from a Gibson” trick worked pretty well with the 7 band variable, but it is even more reliable with the new model.

I may be the only one here that doesn't know this ...

What's the “Gretsch chime from a Gibson” trick?

Simple. If any 2 Amp / Bass Amp and any 2 Cab / Bass Cab blocks have already been loaded, remaining block selections would be greyed-out.
Simple... To say.

We have no actual knowledge of how simple or complex this is because we don't know the internals.

Only Cliff and a couple other people can say how simple it would be...

Which 8x10 IR did you use?
What amp(s)?
The one included in Two Notes « Wall of sound » plugin. I use the DOD Death Metal pedal (first version US) through a clean amp block in the axe fx, and then the bass cab in two notes software in the daw. I stick to this tone the whole album, I wanted something dirty because I’m bored of the modern metal tones . I like to experiment at each release. I change the method everytime . The bass is axe fx only(from the bass pack that I sell). The clean intro here is the flanger in a metallic setting of the ehx polychorus…

That's fair comment: I'm not a developer, so I don't literally know how this would be implemented. I'm not saying the coding work to achieve this is simple.

However, the functionality to prevent illegal actions (i.e. too many instances of a Block) does already exist within the current system. For example, once I've added two Amp / Cab / Chorus Blocks, I am no longer able to add any more and they are greyed-out in Axe Edit, or absent altogether on the front panel.

So whilst acknowledging the technical expertise required to code this, I don't think I'm plucking some unicorn feature from pure fantasy.

Whenever we ask for a new amp / effect / feature, few of us know the complexities of actually making it happen (and are all in awe of those who do), but that doesn't / shouldn't stop us politely asking.

IMO it would be limiting to have separate blocks like you suggested. I'm on the FM3 and i like to play bass through a "bass amp" on one channel in e.g. scene 1 and through a "guitar amp" on another channel on e.g. scene 2. This would not be possible if those were separate blocks. I can imagine some sort of separation like the cab block does between "legacy" and "DynaCab", but honestly even tags would fulfill the task of separation perfectly. Although i'm not sure we really need anything of that. 🤷‍♂️
