Axe-Fx III Firmware Release Notes

29.01

Improved intelligent pitch shifting in Pitch block.

Notes:
  • The Pitch Tracking parameter selects between Off, Chords and Notes. In Chords mode the tracking is optimized for playing multiple notes simultaneously and trades latency for stability. In Notes mode latency is reduced at the expense of stability. In Notes mode simple chords can be tracked but complex chords may present difficulty for the pitch tracker. The Tracking Adjust parameter allows for fine adjustment of the stability vs. latency trade-off.
  • The Pitch Tracking parameter is only available for chromatic shifting types (this includes whammy types). Diatonic shifting necessarily requires playing single notes and the algorithm is automatically set to Notes mode for these types.
Improved CPU usage for some types in Compressor block.

Reduced filtering of rear panel pedal inputs. This allows faster response to rapid pedal movements.

Fixed pop/thump when switching to/from certain Drive types.

Various other fixes and improvements.
Does this impact the Virtual Capo option at all as that's both Chords and Notes at the same time?

Stupid question time - if we select notes or chords, does the pitch tracking adjustment dial still have a function? I always assumed it was only operational when the mode was set to 'off'.

Played the last beta at rehearsal last night (before I saw this release), mainly in chords mode; however, the latency was throwing me off (played a lot of songs requiring fast single string runs, like Wasted Years) so changed it to notes and it seemed a lot better and still sounded great.

Maybe set up different channels in the pitch block for chords and notes, and switch between them when necessary.

Other companies do abominable shite like this:

Thank you for the philosophy behind your modelling and customer service, your generosity and the hard work that everyone at FAS puts into their respective jobs to work toward that goal.

Thanks for putting this up.
I found yesterday, these Boss pedals are now in my local store.
Had a brief skim on what they do, went from initially curious to NO.

Fractal's algorithms are stellar and I'm not interested in paying to join a "cloud."
I especially still remember Cliff's generosity and work in allowing us Mark 1 users access to those Room IRs [L & R], the ones that you can see in the Cab block when you select 'Legacy' in Cab slots 3 & 4.
Not only that.
When I posted I didn't fully understand, Cliff himself posted an AC/DC clip, so I could hear the room's effect on the guitar sound.
How many CEOs would bother doing something like that?
Thanks, Cliff.
And to M@ and Michael.

Thank you for the official firmware update.

After a quick install, I did a quick recording.

Amp: Bogner Shiva X 2 (KT88 tube lead channel, 6L6GE tube clean channel)

Drive: Paradigm shifter, Angry Chuck

Using DI, the same performance is repeated three times, in this order : amp only -> paradigm shifter ON -> Angry Chuck ON. (instead of paradigm shifter)

Thank you.

Ok I had a chance to try the Virtual Capo.. So much improvement even from the last beta. There was a real gain loss when you turned it on that you had to create a dedicated patch for drop tunings. Now I can turn it on with most of my patches and get a really great tone.
