I used to own a 5150 block head (20+ years ago now) and I also owned the 5150 2x12 combo at one time. I hated them lol. They always sounded bad to me and the description above resonates well with me. But I was always a huge fan of EVH and modern high gain tones and so at one time I felt I had to have one. Never got a satisfying tone from it. Prefer Mesa Mark series and Soldano. The 5150 IIs I thought sounded better, but still not that good. The 5150 III's are considerably better sounding to me, but still prefer Soldano for that type of vibe.

IMHO they sound great in a mix and at high volume as soon as poweramp compression tames the fizz... on my 6505+ and Invective I always used a Defizzerator, which is a passive, adjustable low pass filter for the fx loop. When recording those amps most people cut the fizz of the 6505 during mixing phase anyway, but the Defizzerator was nice to get that sort of tamed tone when playing inside your room... I understand many people dislike Peaveys, but 90% of my favorite metal bands I used to listen to used these amps live so they can't be that bad I guess

Edit: Or I just like shit bands and tones

Presence is not part of the tonestack, it's part of the feedback network in the power amp.

The feedback network can be changed but that parameter is not exposed to the user at this time.
Right on,, Thank you for the explanation. makes sense as I can select the Savage tonestack while using the Brootalz,, and the presence knob still does the thing. :)

I’m sorry if this has been asked before.

As far as I know, FAS Modern amps are, one way or another, based on real ones. So, do they receive updates according to recent changes in these "base" amps? Or do they exist independently from the start?
