Would it ever be possible to "manually" change the naming of amps/pedals for the device to match the originals they model - or to have a tooltip text to describe the effect if it indeed models some specific pedal. Probably copyright reasons dictate why they don't match originals to begin with, but just wondering if a tooltip text when hovering over it in edit or a possibility to make a user-based batch change to the names.

Maybe it doesn't make a big difference any case - just an open thought more than a wish. So looking forward to the new muffs!

I'd see if there's a wishlist thread already going for that. If not, you ought to create one!

Quick question, and haven’t seen it asked…

Bought my Big Muff in 1973. It’s an original Rams Head. That said, these had a lot of variations going on in 1973. Last time I was inside it, I recall two pairs of diodes. Same diode as listed in the drop down selection for the Rams Head.

My question: the preset defaults to one diode each side, but I’m almost positive my original has two per side. It provides the user to add more. If my memory is correct (will check when I’m back in Michigan), is there a reason why the axe fx version defaults to two diodes total, versus four? I suppose it’s possible when Fractal is saying one diode, they mean one pair of diodes.

Regardless, this EH Big Muff Rams Head model plays and sounds glorious.

You select the number of diodes in each direction. You can have an asymmetric number.

Yes there are two pairs of diodes in big muffs but they're in two different stages of the circuit, selecting two diodes per side in the axe instead puts them in parallel series on the same stage which actually increases the clipping threshold.

So I assume the diodes selection either changes them for both stages or otherwise just for one and the other is hidden for the user and can't be changed.

Puts them in series.

Axe-Fx III Firmware Release Notes

27.03

Improved Drive block.

Improved PI Fuzz model. The new model also allows changing the type and quantity of diodes used in the transistor feedback paths, adds a “Wicker” switch which removes the feedback capacitors and adds a “Tone” switch which allows bypassing the tone circuitry.

Added “PI Fuzz – Triangle” model. This is based on a 1971 “Triangle” Big Muff PI. Thie model also includes the Tone Wicker mods.

Added “PI Fuzz – Ram’s Head” model. This is based on mid-70’s “Ram’s Head” Big Muff PI. The model also includes the Tone Wicker mods.

Added “Colortone Booster” model based on a Colorsound Power Booster (with added Master control).

Added “Colortone OD” model based on a Colorsound Overdriver (with added Master control).

Fixed Phaser block LFO Reset now working properly for some types.

Fixed wrong Miller capacitance value in Brit 800 models (probably not audible).

Various other fixes and improvements.
Finally!!!!! Gilmour fans rejoice!!!! I've been waiting for years for a Power booster on the Axe Fx.

I was just thinking, who isn’t a Gilmore fan? Never met anyone with a negative opinion of him, I think he’s universally revered.

I think Johnny Rotten is credited by some for starting the punk movement by wearing an I Hate Pink Floyd t-shirt around London when Floyd was at their prime, but that's not necessarily a condemnation of Gilmore specifically, haha. I'm not one to put much stock in Mr. Rotten's opinion personally.
