Can someone explain compressor vs sustainer in this context? Apologies for the slight ignorance
One reduces peaks then boosts overall level, the other boosts lower level signals. To be honest that seems to get the same end result in my thoughts (reduced dynamics and louder overall level), so I’m not sure on pros and cons of each type.

Wiki is here, but doesn’t mention it.

I might be wrong but I think that one compresses the part below the threshold (so raising its level) while the other compresses what's above the threshold (reducing the level).
So the difference is basically that you have reduced dynamic range on low level sounds with one or on high level sounds with the other

Damn, I literally just updated to Beta 3 around 10:30. Gotta love the hard work and quick updates from FAS.

Very remedial question, but where is the Easy vs. Advanced switch for the Input Gate? Doesn't seem to show up in my Axe Edit. I've tried resetting the Input Block to no avail.
Tried « refresh after firmware » in axe edit , if you have latest axe edit 😅

@jin1995x ok you really dont want to palm mute hahahah . anyway .

The Jfet sustainer is great :artpalette:
that's muted too if you play really high gain like 10 on the SC amp plus additional grind and drive its going to sustain even if you mute, unless played faster. or you hard press it in a way you dont normally mute which sounds bad.

you're the first person with a fetish for a muted E note.

Let’s reply quickly.
You don’t get it. Doing a palm mute on E or A or D and let it flow shows that the noise is not filtered when a sound is done. If you have a ground noise, they are stopped with the gate when you don’t play, but as soon as you play, the door is wide open for the noise. That’s why I asked you to not play a open low G note as it’s a non sense because yes, in this case, you hear nothing …
Also you are not palm muting properly in your latest video, but that’s another story.

Haha, Obviously i know what youre saying i wouldnt make a video otherwise. The prev comment was a fun dig at you thats it.

Again i m muting pretty hard its way more high gain than your clips hence it may not sound as muted.

Point being the modern expander is superb virtually no noise under standard high gain scenarios as many others replied to you in the previous thread too, and the noise you had in your videos when playing has nothing to do with axe but something in your room or the pickups.

P.S: Sometimes its better not to be a cynic and believe people if they say something . What you are experiencing is unique to you.
Lets continue this discussion via dms if you intend so as to not hijack the thread.

I know we've chatted before but I can't remember the answer to this question lol have you tried any external gate (physical pedal)?

Are you seriously busting my balls about this preset right now? Are your level knobs frozen? Level them however you wish! lol

I will be refunding everything you paid for it ASAP! View attachment 115907
Send you a bill for the time I spend taking it seriously ;)

I underdstand what your saying RC! I have no amp or frfr system at home other than my speakers and I use Fractal AXE FX as my only system with my adam studio monitors. So when I receive a preset that blasts in my face (volume wise) and I level them and left and right are really out of shape I thought I would do you a favor, but hey I get it. I know where to find my way with the axe fx as a long time user, you do not have to worry ;) And leveling presets (many decibels) definitely has impact (fletcher munson & gain structure in and out of the effects etc..).
If your ears are happy and others too, no problems from my side, was honest feedback, no attack.

But this subject is triggering me, so I will take the subject out of this post and make a small thread.
